    Global Head of Loan Review

    As the Global Head of Loan Review, you are responsible for the hierarchical and functional loan review function (‘LRF’). In this function you provide independent insight in the quality of the execution of the credit lending/control and financial restructuring and recovery processes as performed in the 1st line across both in the credit underwriting as well as the Collection and Recovery process. The Global Head of Loan Review reports directly into the Head of Group Integrated Risk.

    Day to day

    • has the responsibility to implement and maintain a robust and global framework which is the basis for identifying review objects, risk assessment of (sub)portfolios, performing planned loan reviews and reporting on results and providing insight in underlying root causes and remediation plans. This global framework is to be used across the various portfolios across the regions.
    • has the responsibility to provide a comprehensive loan review plan for DLL suitable to identify issues in the execution of the credit processes in a timely manner in order for first line management to remediate.
    • implements and maintains a quality assurance program, to ensure that loan reviews are performed with good quality
    • is primary account manager with a large variety of stakeholders (e.g. heads of global business units, CRO’s central and locally, policy makers, regulator, audit parties)
    • has the responsibility for the group wide reporting on the execution of loan reviews on progress, outcomes (and global developments thereof) and finding management/remediation
    • builds and supports the global community of loan review officers not only through the abovementioned, but also by providing an escalation path in case of disagreements and facilitating and leading the global community discussions.
    • aligns the approach and responsibilities with other second line testing functions (e.g., operating/ compliance testing and oversight) resulting in efficient second line monitoring
    • implements and maintains the group wide oversight and challenge within the loan review function for credit risk. Effectively, this means:
      • provides support (advice and guide) for the first lines risks and controls
      • provides independent oversight and constructively challenges performance of the first line risk and control activities and/or remediation of findings.
      • is independently responsible for the management and (progress)control of all tactical, operational and supporting processes within his/her own department. Is hierarchically and functionally responsible for the team of professionals in the LRF community of Lona d Review Officers in the different regions

    • University degree or comparable level of work / experience required
    • Understanding of regulatory requirements
    • Broad knowledge of financial and non-financial risk management
    • Experience in a combination of Credit, Loan Review and/or Audit environment for a minimum of 10 years
    • Profound knowledge of the leasing business processes in the relevant domains including products, policies, processes, systems, risks and organizational set-ups.
    • Strong skills in making frameworks and structuring information; a ‘structure/system-thinker’
    • Project management skills and management skills
    • Great communication skills both in writing and orally
    • Have seniority, authority, independence, know how.
    • Experienced in dealing with regulators and supervisors
    • Proactive/Initiative: Self-starting and self-organizing, works effectively and efficiently, prioritizes work and anticipates business needs
    • Good self-reflection skills, assessing if the goals of LRF are being met on a regular basis
    • Solid judgement & decision-making skills, providing a good insight in the current state of the mitigation of credit risk
    • The ability and willingness to collaborate with others, but also apply emotional intelligence, to prevent adversarial relationships, but provide a win-win situation for all parties
    • Coaching skills to support the LRF-community and develop starting loan review officers to reliable and independent review professionals and seasoned loan review officers to sparring partners for management
    • Excellent knowledge of the Dutch and English language (both written and verbal)
