Meat to please you! At the Vegetarian Butcher we’re looking for new ‘meat on the block’ to join us in the biggest food revolution of all times.
Ten years ago on October 4th (world animal day) Jaap Korteweg, 9th generation farmer and meat lover, founded The Vegetarian Butcher. Together with a devoted team of chefs and scientists he created innovate and sustainable meat successors directly from beans and legumes. Great tasting meat products, perfect i-meat-ations in flavor, texture and juiciness, but without the use of the animal.
This was the start of our mission to become the biggest butcher in the world, by making plant-based meat the new standard. We try to make our mission a reality Through Craftmanship, Human Connections, Entrepreneurship, Rebelliousness, Humour, Passion, Optimism, Sustainability and Pioneering.
When Unilever acquired the company end of 2018 they joined in on this mission and committed to accelerate the biggest food revolution of all time.
Since the acquisition of the TVB by Unilever, the company is scaling-up fast. In this journey at exponential pace we are looking for a Specifications and Foods Labelling technologist who has the passion to change the world! The job holder will be primary focusing on creating product and labelling specifications for the ‘new meat’ products, assuring speed to market availability of R&D data and our e-commerce agenda as well as manage specifications and labelling data for a portfolio of TVB products on Global market.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF YOUR ‘CHOP’ TO BE DONE
Create and maintain high quality product and labelling specifications in desired IT systems for products developed by The Vegetarian Butcher R&D formulators or third party. Make the specification compliant with Food Law. Verify it against regulatory rules, quality standards and model specs in cooperation with product developers, regulatory, supply chain, project teams and ingredient experts.
Delivers specifications and labelling data for innovations and data projects and coordinates its delivery among other team members. Manage timing of own and team tasks in cooperation with project leader, pro-actively communicates status and issues with project teams. Assures product and labelling specifications on-time pass approval step in Unilever digital tools.
Manage a portfolio of product and labelling specifications of high standard, assuring full consistency with the Foods Law and quality requirements of Unilever IT systems. Drive standardization and simplification of product and labelling data together with Digital & Data and Formulation teams. Seek for uplifting of data quality in line with changes in food law, growing market demands and Unilever strategies.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A BUTCHER
Education: Bsc or MSc degree in Food Technology, Food Law, Commodity Science, Biotechnology or similar relevant area.
Experience: Meat analogues and/ or plant based food law and labelling.
Management of technical documentation for foods products.
Languages: Very good English (speaking and writing).
Excellent computer literacy (e.g. Excel) and experience with technical specification management systems (e.g. SAP PLM).
Preferred: knowledge about management of databases, Power BI.
Very good communication skills (written and verbal)
