Damen Services' mission is to support the sales organization of Damen in selling vessels by providing additional value in the form of services. The department gives substance to the concept of high quality and the generally higher cost of acquisition. After the sale of a ship, excellent services are delivered in order to increase the likelihood that a customer chooses Damen again to buy a ship for replacement or expansion. At the operational level, the Services department maintains contact with clients and is the eyes and ears of the sales organization. Services provides a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes the handling of warranty calls, providing training, providing spare parts, providing maintenance and perform modifications and repairs. That is reflected in the behavior of its employees; they are always available, proactive, keeping their promises and always do more than is asked of them. Within the Services department the question is always: How do we make it happen?
The Field Service Engineer carries out servicing and repair work, supervises during construction, performs operational commissioning tasks and provides training for ships and ship systems at locations around the world, taking into account the local conditions, cultures and customs and ensures that the ships are kept in optimal operating condition.
Fixing breakdowns and carrying out maintenance, overhaul and installation work in relation to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and process engineering on all the relevant installations on both Damen ships and other ships;
Supporting local shipyards with the operational commissioning of ships;
Instruction/training of third parties in relation to the operation, use, and maintenance of ships;
Performing administrative duties and drawing up project reports.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor thinking level;
Good oral and written command of the English and preferable Dutch language;
Independent personality with problem-solving skills and high degree of customer orientation;
Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience.
Experience in handling cryogenic gases;
Experience with equipment used in LNG installations, such as shut-off valves, control valves, safety devices, heat exchangers and storage tanks;
Experience with control and PLC systems;
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical engineering;
Knowledge of electrical installations;
Knowledge of explosion protection, zoning, measures and EX equipment;
Knowledge of pressure equipment;
Knowledge of combustion engines and in particular with gaseous fuels;
Knowledge of safety systems such as gas detection, ESD and mechanical pressure protection;
Knowledge of materials, especially for cryogenic applications;
Knowledge of inspection, testing and maintenance;
Knowledge of gas quality and phase theory.
