This is a new team, embarking on growing our Driver base by expanding to existing transport ecosystems. With the goal of delivering billions of $ growth for Uber in the next 3 years, you will lay the foundation technology for the team to deliver this ambitious and business-critical goal.
You will have the opportunity to work on 0-1 projects, build and scale systems in a fast-paced engineering environment, and ensure success at a global scale. You will get to collaborate with engineers across Uber, to demonstrate and accelerate the delivery of features.
What You'll Do
Craft the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with Product, Operations, Data Science, and other functions.
Partner with tech teams across the company to drive alignment on goals and ensure strong execution against those goals.
Invest in engineer growth to help them achieve their full potential. Mentor and support your team of backend and frontend engineers enabling them to deliver on the team's goals.
Build a team culture of iterative innovation, strong collaboration, and engineering excellence.

8+ years of total software development experience.
Outstanding technical skills in backend or frontend engineering: Uber managers can lead from the front when the situation calls for it.
Experience architecting, building, and maintaining scalable, cloud-based applications and highly available services in a large SOA architecture.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
4+ years of hands-on technical management experience.
5+ years of proven experience in a hands-on engineering capacity developing distributed systems and frontend applications.
2+ years leading teams of 10 or more engineers across all levels.
Experience building & leading growth teams.
Experience building a team from the ground up.
Strong leadership skills but also deeply technical. You'll need to have a strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem-solving acumen on sophisticated technical challenges. Being able to actively code is a plus.
A track record of delivering results in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.
Be able to work cross-functionally with many other roles and partners within the company.
You care deeply about helping others achieve their goals and become the best engineers they can be.
Strong servant-leadership management style geared towards supporting, mentoring and growing engineers on the team
