    The EMEA Data and Analytics (D&A) team supports all business activity across 39 countries in the region and serves all functions. This includes working closely with all functions across the EMEA region, including: Supplier Management, Demand Planning, Sales Planning, Nike Direct, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Pricing, Marketing, Customer Insight, as well as the global team in the US, and its counterparts in other regions.

    Who are we looking for?

    We are looking for someone who’s passionate for all things data and analytics, has a strong software engineering leadership background and is ready to innovate and lead in the analytics space! As our Engineering Director you will provide technical leadership in product development based at our European Headquarters in the Netherlands. You will join the team that is revolutionising Nike D&A platforms and implementing a data landscape that is simplified, modern, flexible and will ultimately enable Nike on its journey through 2021 and beyond!

    Who will you work with?

    Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) EMEA, you will be leading the overall engineering team of approximately 100 engineers, including data, full stack, backend and visualisation engineers.

    Being also a member of the ED&A leadership team, you will drive the change within Nike, be part of a data transformation globally and promote the development of innovative new data platforms and products in collaboration with business and technology partners.

    What will you work on?

    Partnering with the other leaders in ED&A, you will lead and contribute to the definition and execution of an overarching Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning Engineering strategy, using outstanding software engineering and aligning data analytics investments with the highest impact areas, while producing a suite of complementary models, tools, and technologies.

    More responsibilities include:

    • Manage a team of 6 software engineering managers and an overall team of 100 software engineers promoting our excellence in engineering strategy.
    • Evangelize engineering solutions to drive business value and growth through adoption of Big Data, Analytics, ML and Artificial Intelligence.
    • Partner with Product Ownership, Architecture, Data Management, Machine Learning and Operations leadership to establish product roadmaps.
    • Ensure the highest possible quality solution work through coding standards, code reviews, automation, test driven development and alignment to architectural guidelines.
    • Inculcate a culture of autonomy and independence across the squads.
    • Partner with business leaders to provide expert advice and influence strategic decision making to ensure maximum use of data and insights.
    • Guide and mentor the product scrum teams to raise the collective expertise.
    • Provide day to day leadership to the Engineering team.

    What you bring:

    • 5+ years in senior engineering management.
    • 7+ years in the data, analytics and software engineering area.
    • Substantial experience with delivery solutions in a fast-paced complex environment – Scrum, SAFe, Lean and Extreme Programming.
    • Strong understanding of data and analytics solutions, including experience with Big Data, Relational Databases, Streaming and Batch Data Processing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineering.
    • Experience in driving high volume data lake solutions using AWS.
    • Experience in languages such as Python, Java, and SQL.
    • Worked with Github, JIRA, Confluence, Airflow, SonarQube or Jenkins.
    • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills with ability to facilitate strategy, requirements and business value conversations with all stakeholders.
    • Proven experience of statistical and predictive modeling concepts.
    • Experience delivering business value in an agile, lean and product focused environment.
