    Distribution Specialist

    DESCRIPTION

    The distribution specialist is active within the distribution team and is responsible for shipment execution, providing a set of documentation, warehouse level loading and inventory control. The distribution specialist is creating shipments based on the shipment planning prepared by the supply chain planner and instructs the warehouses what, where and when to load in a container/truck. Ensuring the shipments bookings are confirmed on the requested vessels/departure dates in order to meet the desired customer delivery dates. The responsibility of the distribution specialist is to ensure that the inventory in the warehouses is aligned with our system to avoid disruption in the execution process.

    On a daily basis, the distribution specialist works with warehouses, international logistics, carriers and supply chain planners, QA and finance and any other department that is required to provide the highest level of customer service.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Be the primary source for shipment related information for the Customer Service department, Transportation and other ALOG departments
    •  Purchase orders entry and maintenance
    •  Create inbound and outbound shipments in line with the shipment plan, transport capability and warehouse agreements
    •  Book shipments, with selected forwarders, in a timely matter, using EDI communication and/or other means of communication (including direct shipment handling, Letter of Credit handling, Manage return shipment)
    •  Create import/export documentation
    •  Support Complaint & Claims handling
    •  Inventory control and inventory matching
    •  Hold periodic business reviews with Supply Chain Planning /warehouse/transportation providers
    •  Be the primary source of Transportation/Distribution related information
    •  Educate Warehousing and Transportation (providers) in the area of ALOG systems and processes
    •  Review key performance indicators regularly, identify opportunities to improve performance, and execute implementation of improvements

    Position Interaction Internal & External Contracts (influencing, motivating, etc.)

    • Regular contact with warehouses and transportation providers
    • Regular contact with Internal customer operations, supply chain planners and International Logistics
    • Regular contact with QA, Finance and all other supply chain departments
