    Digital Talent Programme – Data Engineer

    Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of humankind. A challenge that has completely come to define our work at Vattenfall.     By applying to the Digital Talent Programme 2021 you can become 1 of 12 talents working towards that goal. Each position in the programme is unique and has its own specific responsibilities and challenges.
    Next to your personal development in this position, you will also be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. A year within this programme will include both virtual and live meet-ups with your international colleagues. During the year you will work on assignments virtually together, as well as participating in four seminar weeks during which you will meet live. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to join a variety of trainings.

    Your role as a Data Engineer
    At Customer Analytics department we create customer value in a close business and IT partnership to reach the “Power Climate Smarter Living” vision. We promote a positive digital mindset and establish an open learning culture to run stable, secure, efficient and compliant IT services. As a Data Engineer you are responsible for the creation of data products that meet our customers’ growing demands and with your work you accelerate Vattenfall’s digital transformation strategy.
    Your daily activities:
    • You create the data infrastructure in a simple and efficient matter
    • You design, build and integrate data from source system to end customer
    • You work closely with Data Scientists, other Data engineers, UX colleagues on creating data solutions as well as with our business partners in Sales, Marketing to help them getting better insight in our customers’ demands

    You want to drive digital innovations and you are a firm believer of using your skills to tackle climate change. We believe you are a brilliant networker, a critical thinker, a resourceful innovator and a keen learner who always keeps an ear to the ground to catch up on developments.

    As a Data Engineer you recognize yourself in the following qualifications:
    • You have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or similar
    • You have an affinity with the latest Data technologies or in creating data solutions
    • You are able to translate business requirements into data solutions
    • You have a drive to automate and to continuously improve and keep your knowledge up to date
    • You write software and understand Python; SQL or Spark is an advantage, but not a must
    • You have experience with coding assignments or a development project
    • You’re very keen to learn new tools in software development and you have an Agile mindset
    You are our ideal talent if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or a young professional with no more than three years of working experience. You are fluent in English. Skills in other languages can be a merit. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.

    You will be working in department Customer IT and the position is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

    The Digital Talent Programme is a kickstart to your career within Vattenfall. It will give you the opportunity to visit different parts of our organization, e.g. in Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. There are planned weeks including personal development and internal leadership development from our Vattenfall Management Institute. Selection period starts in April, followed by online tests and interviews in April and May. The recruitment process will be finalized around the end of May. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the Digital Talent Programme will be 1st of September 2021.
