    Derivatives Analyst

    The job in a nutshell

    Aegon Asset Management is a global, active investment manager. Investors worldwide entrust our organization to manage approximately €345 billion on their behalf. Aegon Asset Management has operations throughout the UK, Continental Europe, North America and Asia.

    Reporting to the Derivatives Operations Manager, you will work in the Derivatives Middle office. The team is responsible for supporting the derivatives process with P&L reporting, market data maintenance and front office support. You will work closely together with Derivatives Front Office, Derivatives Back-Office, Collateral management and Portfolio Risk Management, and other areas focusing on control, service and reporting. You will support a diverse derivatives product range, including vanilla OTC products, listed derivatives, equity and credit derivatives.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing daily/month end reconciliation between third parties and the books of the firm, including resolution of exceptions. Liaising with different areas of the business regarding valuation and pricing.
    • Provision of market data input to pricing system and data maintenance of specific databases. Main responsibilities are data maintenance, reporting and control.
    • Assisting front office with daily tasks and ad hoc queries, being point of contact for any middle office queries and offering support to other teams in such instances.
    • Developing and executing Risk and P&L attribution reports on a daily/monthly basis, including sanity checks/interpretation of P&L, valuation, market data.
    • Performing/reviewing detailed reconciliations to identify and resolve data/valuation breaks.
    • Supporting the business with new change such as new processes, new valuations or new derivatives instruments implementation. Ensuring all changes are logged, analysed and implemented to meet AEGON requirements.

    Who will be your new colleagues?

    You will be part of a small team of 3 individuals. The team is managed by a young and entrepreneurial Derivatives Operations Manager, who will give you lots of freedom and at the same time will help you develop your analytical and operational skills extensively.

    Requirements

    This is your future position because you have an excellent analytical insight and eye for detail. You are pro-active and a great team player. You are capable in solving problems in a structured way, translating theory into practical solutions.

    Furthermore, you:

    • Have a Master’s Degree in Quantitative Finance, Econometrics, Mathematics or another quantitative field.
    • Have 0-3 years of relevant working experience.
    • Are fluent in English (both written and oral).
    • Have a working knowledge of VBA and Python.
    • Have experience with OTC derivatives, collateral management and Murex.
    • Have strong social skills, being able to understand and act according to somebody else’s point of view.
    • Have a strong affinity with programming, financial markets and investments.
    • Are focused on excellence and delivery, resilient and able to work with many and varied deliverables.

    What will you be getting?

    • You will be earning between €2757 and €4595 based on 40 hours per week
    • You will also receive a fixed 13th month’s salary and holiday allowance in the form of a monthly flexible budget of 16.7% of your monthly salary;
