    Data Protection Officer

    Ohpen is all about data.

As a cloud-based service provider for financial institutions, we handle sensitive personal data from retail clients and the role of DPO is therefore pivotal in our organization.

After last year's acquisition of Da Vinci and our latest round of funding, you'll join us during a high growth period in which we'll double down on our expansion efforts in The Netherlands and abroad. As we grow, so will your role and responsibilities.

Hence, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your legal expertise and become our trusted advisor in all GDPR-related matters, working closely with Risk & Security as a member of Legal & Compliance and reporting directly to our General Counsel.

You probably want to know what's involved.

First and foremost, your main duty is to ensure that Ohpen as an organization stays GDPR compliant.

In practice, this means not only maintaining processing registers and internal controls but also making sure that people are on board. To accomplish that, you'll need to become a trusted advisor on everything related to data protection.

One of our near-term goals is to implement privacy by design. If terms like JSON, API, STP, and SQL don't have you looking quizzically, then you'll fit right in with our developers, whom you'll have to work with to reach this important goal.

Being naturally good at connecting with people at all levels of an organization will greatly benefit you. Additionally, you'll need to have a good eye for detail and know how to run a project and manage stakeholders.

It's a big job, we know, but we love people who take responsibility. And you won't be doing it alone. You'll be close to the business working together to implement privacy by design, maintain the processing registers, write RfQs, support the design of risk controls, and executing impact assessments. In addition, because the team is small, you'll support contract negotiations with suppliers and clients.

Finally, if despite everything there is an incident, you'll need to help decide whether we should notify the client or data protection authority.

Did we also mention that we are based in the heart of Amsterdam? So, if you are into cool offices with barista coffee and pool tables, you'll like it here.

    About you

    • Relevant experience in the field of data protection and legal compliance (GDPR) at a financial institution, cloud service provider, or FinTech
    • Master's degree in law or equivalent work experience
    • Good communicative and influencing skills to support your stakeholder management
    • Project management skills: you are good at planning but more importantly, you enjoy it

You don't have an updated CV just yet? That's all right; you can also apply with your LinkedIn profile.
