As a Data Engineering Team Lead for CTS you will be at the forefront of cloud technology. You’ll continually develop and hone your technical skills in a varied consulting role. You’ll lead a team of experienced Data Engineers, Scientists in delivering client facing projects.
You’ll be a point of call for technical decisions and leadership, alongside line management responsibilities for a team of talented data specialists with varying levels of experience.
Your focus will be on the delivery of your work, rather than when or where you do it. You’ll be remote based primarily, but will be welcome to visit the offices as often as you like. You may also spend some time working from customer sites and the UK offices from time to time.

What you’ll do:
Enable diverse organisations use Google cloud, and other supporting solutions like Looker, to solve complex data challenges.
Meet with customers, potentially at the early sales stage, to assess and understand their technical requirements. You’ll guide projects from the information and discovery stages through to implementation, build and support.
Coordinate project resourcing with other areas of the business, ensuring the right people are in the right place with the right skills.
Gain exposure to a wide variety of technologies and data approaches, and you will be expected to investigate the use of new technologies as they become available.
Understand the value of our long relationship with Google, and help to grow and promote our data capabilities within their teams.
Lead and inspire an experienced team of data engineers and scientists, working with them on their skills, personal development and career growth.
Key Technical Skills:
Significant commercial experience in the area of Data Engineering or Machine Learning
Extensive hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure), including the use of their data related components to build solutions
Comfortable designing and building large data architectures
Strong experience building ETL / ELT pipelines, Data Lakes and Data Warehouses
Significant experience in using languages like Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python and/or Go, as well as databases like Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL and/or Big Query
Significant experience in using languages like Python, R and SQL as well as Google database services like Firestore, Cloud SQL and/or Big Query
Experienced in using unit testing and CI-CD
A good understanding of some of the following tools: Hadoop / Spark | Apache Airflow | Apache Beam | Relational database technologies (Microsoft SQL, Oracle or PostgreSQL) | Teradata | Tensorflow | Analytical tools (Looker, Tableau, Qlik, Data Studio)
Masters or Doctorate in Maths, Data Science or similar
Previous experience in a consultancy or professional services role is highly desirable
GCP/AWS professional certifications. We’re a Google partner, but principles from AWS would apply of course
Experience with or knowledge of Google Cloud (e.g. AppEngine, BigQuery and Google REST APIs
Experience in or knowledge of working in an agile project based environment
