    Data Engineer - Performance Marketing

In Performance Marketing we are the primary entry point for acquisition of new customers, be it from advertisements on major search engines, organic search or getting customers from meta-sites. Behind all this is a critical infrastructure of data pipelines and ML infrastructure that makes sure we are spending our money wisely and attract traffic to our website as efficiently as possible.

Our data pipelines and products try to provide a match between raw data generated, like ad reports, and consumers of enriched data (such as Data Scientists, ML engineers and other analytics teams as well as business stakeholders) to model, monitor, stream and/or batch process their data for analytical consumption. At the same time the team supports the consumers of such data to discover and enhance the datasets.

Booking.com is looking for a data-savvy professional to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you will be working with stakeholders throughout the company to ensure we have access to high quality, enriched data from other departments and teams. Decisions for every part of our business - from pipelines for ML models to reports for business decisions - are driven by petabytes of our data via MySQL, Hadoop, BigQuery, etc. Your challenge will be to make sure we can utilize our terabyte-scale data even more effectively to support business decisions and improve our products. Joining a team of ML scientist and engineers and working closely with other roles such as developers and business stakeholders, we invite you to help us crunch the data to ensure our place as the planet’s #1 accommodation site.

    • Providing tools that enhance Data Quality company-wide.
    • Providing self-organizing tools that help the analytics community discover data, assess quality, explore usage, and find peers with relevant expertise.
    • Acting as an intermediary for problems, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Highly motivated to work independently while also having a keen curiosity around business deliverables to ensure alignment.
    • Prior Experience with ETL/Workflow creating/managing/troubleshooting - ideally with Airflow.
