Data Engineer

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will design and develop data integration solutions, work on data modelling and performance tuning for data warehouse, data integration hub and other analytical tools.

IT Data Engineering is responsible for the design and development of enterprise data collection, aggregation, and access systems for IDEXX’ global business environment. These include traditional data architectures such as enterprise data warehousing and larger cloud-based data centralization systems like data integration hubs. Our products are used for synchronizing billions of data points between enterprise applications such as global ERP and CRM applications, collecting and normalizing reference lab results and clinical utilization, and creating easy-to-access data sources for enterprise analytics, sales enablement tools, and data science initiatives.

Our team includes a range of data engineers, software engineers, data architects, and data-centric business analysts, with a heavy focus on cloud-driven “big data” projects. Some team members provide knowledge and support over our traditional data warehouse applications, building upon these environments with SQL and traditional ETL methods, while our newer cloud-based applications leverage Python, Spark, and Scala. Our newest technology addition expands our data models via Snowflake, bringing the best of cloud scale and compute capabilities, along with long-lived data engineering practices.

In this role:

You will design and implement scalable, reliable distributed data processing frameworks and analytical infrastructure.
You will define, design, and implement data management, storage, backup and recovery solutions.
You will design automated software deployment functionality.

You will monitor structural performance and utilization, identify problems and implement solutions.

You will lead the creation of standards, best practices and new processes for operational integration of new technology solutions.

You will ensure environments are compliant with defined standards and operational procedures.

You will implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and refining the performance of data management systems.

You will complete problem tickets including bug fixes, design modification and enhancement based on customer requirements.

What you will need to succeed:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics and Statistics, or another similar subject area.
You understand structural requirements and can define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed.
You are an expert in SQL.
You designed and developed data platforms using architectural concepts like Inmon, Kimball, ODS, Data Lake, Ancor etc.
You are confident in working with relational databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
You designed and developed data pipelines (ETL) using any enterprise-level platform (Informatica, Pentaho, Airflow, Cdata, etc.)
You develop using Python or any other scripting language.
You work with Git.
Your experience with AWS database and data technologies as well as with Snowflake will be an advantage.
You excel at customer service and building relationships with business.
You are fluent in English and can hear English across multiple accents.
You have good communication skills.
You are familiar with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Your experience working in an international and diverse environment will be an advantage.
