    This is the role

    As a Customs Advisor you are a key member of the Trade Compliance team who will help ensure adherence to EU import and export compliance laws and regulations and help drive regional alignment and strategic development of LyondellBasell trade optimization efforts.
    You will interface with business leaders, procurement, legal, supply chain, etc. in addition to many external trade partners (customs authorities, custom brokers, etc.) on all matters pertaining to trade compliance and optimization.

    Your main responsibilities are:

    • Monitor EU customs legislation and manage actions for appropriate changes within the LyondellBasell organization
    • Act as point of contact for the LyondellBasell EU business on customs related matters.
    • Drive and establish (duty) optimization projects via customs licenses, preferential origin management, tariff suspensions programs, review sourcing strategies and automation of existing procedures
    • Responsible for ensuring the compliance requirements of the existing customs licenses and adjusting/applying for new customs licenses.
    • Responsible for the further development and execution of the control framework related to LyondellBasell EU AEO licenses in among others the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and the UK.
    • Control and coordination of all EU LyondellBasell customs processes, including ERP automation.
    • Proactively approach internal business partners to understand changes in the business and the impact it has on customs and trade compliance and to advise and ensure business is conducted in a customs efficient and compliant manner.
    • In line with DOA (Delegation of Authorities) approval process, review contracts and advice preferred customs/trade compliance clauses.
    • Create customs awareness; provide training, guidance, support and solutions to internal partners.
    • Develop KPI‘s for our customs broker and manage the performance of the 4PL and other customs agents against those measures; Manage the customs brokers on a daily basis where needed

    To be successful in this role you are proactive in recognizing and addressing possibilities for process optimization. You like to get challenged and give advice on a broad range of Customs questions from the business. You have strong problem solving skills and an analytical mindset. Besides this you are approachable and have good communication skills.

    This is what you bring

    • University degree, preferably in Fiscal/Tax Law or related discipline
    • Minimum of 4-6 years of work experience in the customs/trade compliance area within the Big Four or corporate multi-national environment
    • Good knowledge of customs law, rulings and court decisions within the EA and demonstrated experience handling in AEO and customs special procedures (IPR, OPR, End Use, etc.)
    • Fluent in Dutch and English. German and/or French is considered a plus
