    Curriculum Manager

    The IB is looking for highly motivated, creative and imaginative applicants with a passion for educating young people in the social studies and humanities.

    The IB develops programmes and curriculum that are evidence-led, future-facing and mission-driven. We invite educators, instructional designers, and content creators with diverse perspectives and experience to apply.     Job description

    The post holder will lead and support curriculum design and projects associated with the Individuals and Societies subject group in the Diploma and Career-related Programmes (DP/CP).

    Projects may include subject-specific curriculum reviews, resource development as well as support for programme, divisional and enterprise-wide initiatives. The curriculum manager reports to one of the senior managers on the Learning and Teaching team.

    Job responsibilities

    Managers in this post are expected to fulfil the following areas of responsibility:

    A. Provide agile disciplinary, curriculum design and/or content development expertise relevant to the Individuals and Societies subject group.

    B. Stay informed to offer up-to-date insights into school practices and educational trends.

    C. Lead and support projects that deliver high-quality, compelling and meaningful resources to IB schools, educators and students.

    D. Develop and contribute to innovative learning and teaching perspectives and practices that support an IB education within DP/CP and across all IB programmes.

    E. Contribute to and/or lead programme, divisional and enterprise-wide initiatives

    F. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Successful applicants to this post will demonstrate the following attributes.

    Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

    • Advanced degree in a relevant area.
    • Expertise with relevant discipline-based standards, frameworks and/or competencies.
    • Relevant educator experience that may consist of one or more of the following: teaching, coordination, curriculum and/or assessment design and development, examining and/or professional development.
    • Understanding of good practice, emerging developments and innovations in teaching, learning and assessment.
    • Insight into the needs, interests and contexts of educators and students in the IB community.

    Desirable

    • Experience with curriculum and/or assessment design.
    • Experience with diverse social studies and humanities methods and approaches.

    Project skills

    Essential

    • A user-centred and evidence-based approach to managing projects, including the ability to plan, budget and lead projects that inspire active participation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Delivery of agreed project outcomes according to defined budgets, parameters and timelines.
    • The ability to adopt effective change management for projects, including the timely sharing of work for review and approval at defined stages.
    • A commitment to the inclusion and integration of diverse communities, perspectives and experiences in projects and resource development.

    Desirable

    • Strong understanding and frequent user of academic research, with strong qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research skills.
    • Demonstrated experience in implementing, monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of new programmes and/or defined projects.
    • Competence in the use of project management tools, platforms and/or approaches.

    Communication and technical skills

    Essential

    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to create and present clear and compelling materials for a variety of audiences, platforms and purposes.
    • The ability to provide and receive timely, actionable and professional feedback to colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Competence using standard office software.

    Desirable

    • Competence in languages other than English, for instance: French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and others
    • Competence in the use of digital tools and platforms relevant to the educational context.

    • The ability to collaborate with others in ways that provide clarity, resolution and effective solutions to problems as they arise.
    • The ability to work with multiple projects and deadlines with flexibility.
