Credit Analyst (Insured) Private Debt and Trade Finance

The Alternative Fixed Income team focusses on delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns, by investing in less traditional or less liquid assets within the Fixed Income universe. The team covers a broad spectrum of investment opportunities, and manages a range of investment funds for its clients, such as Asset Backed Securities, Residential Mortgages, Corporate Private Placements, SME/midcap loans, Impact loans with Government Guarantees, Trade Finance, and Insured Private Debt. The team manages about €40bln in assets, predominantly for external clients, such as pension funds, insurance companies, banks and wholesalers.
We are looking to expand the team with an Investment Manager / Credit Analyst who will be focusing on both of our Trade Finance Fund and Insured Private Debt Fund within our Alternative Fixed Income team. The Trade Finance and Insured Private Debt Funds aims to source and insure high-yielding assets in order to achieve above market returns for our institutional clients. As an Investment Manager / Credit Analyst you will be responsible for the initial and on-going credit analysis of the corporate obligors and insurance company guarantors. You will be part of the team making investment decisions on both funds and you will have a direct impact on the risk-profile and returns of the funds.
Reporting into the European Head of Alternative Fixed Income, the responsibilities of this role will entail:
Help build and manage a Trade Finance fund and (Insured) Private Debt fund for internal and external clients of Aegon Asset Management
Perform credit analysis of underlying corporate obligors and of the insurance companies providing the credit protection on these loans
Discuss your credit analysis with other members of the team and take an investment decision together.
General investment management of the Trade Finance and (Insured) Private Debt funds, including periodic review of existing investments and credit exposures in the funds
Help with all commercial activities, including giving pitches to potential investors
As an Investment Manager / Credit Analyst, you are a dedicated team player with a hands-on mentality and you are result oriented. You have very strong analytical skills and an eye for detail. You have strong communication skills. You are optimistic and you like work within a dynamic environment.
Moreover, you have the following qualifications and skills:
Master’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Econometrics or Mathematics.
A Minimum of 5 – 10 years relevant experience as a corporate and/or financial credit analyst at an Investment Manager or at an Investment Bank within the EU or UK.
A high level of drive and you are achievement oriented, with a “deal maker” mentality.
Excellent analytical skills, with eye for detail.
Excellent communication skills and able to assist in giving pitches to client.
Excellent people skills in order to build relationships with banks and other counterparties.
Fluent in English. Dutch language skills are not a pre-requisite
You are DSI certified or willing to register with the DSI and meet the compulsory Guidelines of the European Securities Markets Authority (ESMA) on knowledge, skills and expertise.
