The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in the area of consumer connectivity, apps, micro-services and cloud, with a Technical Delivery mind set, and comfortable owning end-to-end system integration.
Which LG deliverables would they work on?
LG’s consumer connectivity eco system is dependent on a growing set of back office cloud components.
Out-of-Home, we have the Community Wi-Fi components including Wireless Access Gateways, RADIUS platforms, LDAP, and Analytics DBs and Reporting tools, underpinning a growing footprint of 10m home spots across the group.
In-Home, we’re adopting a multi AP approach, and dependent on cloud platforms to drive both control and data plane capability exposure towards customers via C-App, in the TR-69 device management, Radio Resource, and Parental Controls / Security area.
Applicants with experience and subject matter expertise in either out-of-home or in-home should apply.
LG’s Community Wi-Fi and C-App; the focus is on enhancing the out-home Wi-Fi experience, by improving the connectivity UX, and increasing Wi-Fi coverage through global roaming partnerships.
Building on LG’s successful Mercury family of Wi-Fi Gateways, PLC APs and Wi-Fi Mesh APs, the connectivity platforms have growing importance, and critical to LG’s product roadmap, in terms of,
Device Management, exposing multi AP capability via cloud interfaces to iOS / Android Apps, Web Apps and micros-service API’s
Parental Controls / Security, also through AI / ML, intelligently applying parental & security policy, using profiles, dealing with IoT, and providing customers events / insights, ultimately growing the customer user experience.
The Connectivity department, part of LG’s T&I (Technology & Innovation) organisation, has responsibility to drive technology change across LG’s operating companies spanning multiple countries around the world. The Connectivity function responsibilities include the plan, design and build of E2E service Architectures and Technology selection support for specific technology areas.
It’s about Technical Leadership towards LG’s top programmes, providing authoritative guidance on strategy, planning, design, build and test phases, and working with product owners and programme managers to address requirements and meet governance gates.
It’s about being accountable for developing and documenting high level architecture, directional steers, guidelines and acting as a technical design authority towards LG and key programme initiative.
It’s the development and delivery of Connectivity Platforms, which is seen to be at the heart of LG’s product initiatives which apply right across our operating companies.
It will influence LG’s next generation connectivity platform strategy, drawing on AI / ML, to optimise in and out-home WiFi and deliver new services, via our key back office platforms, RADIUS, WAG, LDAP, ACS (Auto Configuration Server), CPE Telemetry Message Brokering (MQTT, WPA, OVS), Cloud Platforms, Radio Resource Management, App, Parental Controls and Micro Services.
It’s developing documents and maintaining architectural guidelines/policies; being sure to consider network, product, security, compliance, operations, planning and engineering requirements as well as the impact on IT, system integration and test teams.

Desired Skills and Experience
You are a proven technical leader and ready to drive LG key connectivity projects and take on the coordination of a multi-vendor ecosystem.
You are a technical expert in area of Connectivity Platforms, with deep understanding either in-home or out-home WiFi networks and their associated back office components.
You will have experience working with leading telco / cable equipment manufacturers in integrating Connectivity Platforms projects with demonstrable success in achieving business objectives.
You will have experience in integrating connectivity applications, working from “Bare Metal”, Virtualisation / containers, OS Level, developed understanding of applications, in order to see through initiatives through PoC to Live Deployment.
You will have experience and detailed understanding of interfaces and protocols used in the collection, application and notification of control & policy across multiple access methodologies to support modern converged services.
You will be able to drive architectural direction, and substantiate balanced recommendations that reflect a broader business perspective in addition to a technology perspective.
You have a strong overall understanding of the technologies and platforms specific to a large cable and telecommunications operator .
You are based in NL/UK and willing to travel to across Liberty Global’s European affiliate operating company
