… Then you are our new Chapter Lead Analytical Reporting and Tools
As a Chapter Lead, you dedicate about half of your time to the development of yourself and your team. You hierarchically oversee a chapter of around 10 Engineers, implying the people management. This covers the recruiting of new talents, people administration, personal development and evaluation of your chapter members. You will inspire and encourage your chapter members to develop themselves, providing them coaching on both professionally as well as personally. This part could be part of your personal development as well, if not fully familiar with it at this point in time in your professional career.
Next to that, you will be working as a DevOps engineer in a scrum squad of 6-8 people consisting of three or four other DevOps engineers and two or three Business Analysts. In addition there will be a Product Owner who decides on the priority of the user stories. The squad is responsible for the Cognos Analytics platform within the Netherlands and Belgium.
Supporting our power and mass users is the main part of your job. You and your fellow engineers are not only responsible for supporting users with the use of Cognos, including incident management and bug fixing. You will also be responsible for keeping the operational controls, which are a key part of the risk appetite of the bank, up to date.
Important task of the DevOps engineer is to advice users in face-to-face contact how to use the platform and underlying data. You will be part of the cross-border squad in Amsterdam, with sporadical business trips to Brussels.
Your key responsibilities
Manage and achieve IT maturity and the squad's mission
Spends approximately half of the time working as an Engineer in his/ her squad.
Has an up-to-date vision regarding IT expertise and keeps abreast of developments.
Stays one step ahead in the domain of data and reporting and applies learnings in its specific context
Defines and ensures application of standards in his/her own area of IT expertise.
Shares relevant insights/developments in his/her own IT expertise with members of his/her own and possibly also other chapters.
People and Chapter management
Encourages team members to develop themselves and facilitates this (e.g. providing training opportunities).
Provides coaching both in terms of professional and of personal development. Constantly ensures development of individual members' expertise.
Is responsible for the personal development and evaluation of the chapter members, based on input from the Product Owner, the Agile Coach and individual squad members.
Identifies top performance and takes action at an early stage for underperformance.
Supports talent acquisition and retention management activities (e.g. interview applicants)
Discusses resource planning for squads and chapter with the IT Area Lead and Product Owner.
Is a key member of the Product Owner, Team Lead and Agile Coach (POCLAC) sessions, where ways to optimize performance and improvement of capabilities of the squad are discussed
Creating and safeguarding the 'new' culture
Has an active role in embedding the Agile way of working within a Spotify Model.
Functions as an ambassador for cultural change and advocates the 'organization doing' principles rather than ‘organizational talking’ ones.
Puts in place a culture of self-development and high performing teams.
Skill and Competences
Together with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a DevOps engineer and/or as a Business Intelligence consultant in similar environments, we expect you to have had experience working with the following tools, techniques and way of working:
Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science or related subjects or experience
Profound understanding of Cognos Analytics 11.x – Dashboarding, Reporting and Framework manager and Admin
Excellent communication and consultancy skills
Experience with giving training and master classes to large groups of end users
Experience with working in an Agile environment
Fluent in English
Data Modelling like, but not limited to Data Vault and Dimensional modelling
Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server or similar databases
Knowledge of data manipulation and transformation, e.g. SQL
Affinity with Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning
