Uber High Capacity Vehicles (HCV) is an everyday commute product that is safe, reliable and affordable. With just a few taps and a short walk, HCV makes it easy for riders to book a guaranteed seat in an air conditioned bus from a selection of routes and pick-up stations. We currently operate across MEA, Europe and LATAM.
The Central Ops & Strategy team is responsible for shaping the HCV strategic priorities and collaborates with Ops, Product and Cross Functional partners to deliver initiatives that scale the business!
About the Role
This role is based in Amsterdam and reports into the Head of Central Ops & Strategy. As an Ops Manager, you will be responsible for owning and delivering a portfolio of strategic projects that have global impact. You love solving problems and you're comfortable getting stuck into the data to find the right answers. Given your work touches a number of different teams (Ops, Product, Functional Partners), you'll showcase excellent program management skills to collaborate, coordinate and keep partners engaged!
As an early member of the team you will play an integral role in crafting the future of the Central Ops & Strategy team as well as the HCV business at large. The successful candidate will be resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity and be a proactive builder. You should also be comfortable that this will be an evolving role as we structure the team over time
What You'll Do
Strategy: Work closely with the Ops Leadership, Product teams and Functional Partners (CommOps, Finance, Marketing) to align and iterate on overall strategy and priority initiatives
Planning: Build and maintain financial and headcount models, operational reporting, OKRs, projections, and key business metrics to inform the leadership and the entire business of progress to plan
Competition: Understand market trends and gather competitive intelligence to inform strategic decisions on market positioning
Program / Project Management: Collaborate with Regional teams in MEA, Europe and LATAM to coordinate initiatives, share takeaways and streamline Ops effort
Project Delivery: Design, execute and lead strategic projects that deliver impact
Scale: Identify opportunities to optimise, streamline or automate processes to give Ops back time
Analyse data: Keep tab of the metrics and delve into the rider & driver data to validate your hypothesis and make data driven decisions
Develop Relationships: Invest time to form relationships and cultivate trust with Ops, Product and Functional Partners
Be an owner: We're building a business and there's a lot that we don't know. You will need to be a self starter that doesn't shy away from facing challenges and takes initiative to ensure we move the business forward.
What You'll Need
At least 3 years of Operations experience at Uber or similar tech environment with data driven decision making
Ability to work with limited information and a strong appetite to overcome this challenge
Data-driven decision making ability & sound judgment
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution
Excellent knowledge of Uber operational tools and processes
Creative solutions driven approach, with a 'get it done' attitude
Proficiency in Excel, SQL is a must. Other Microsoft Office system proficiency is strongly preferred
