NL Business (NLB) is a department at FMO that focusses on creating partnerships leading to shared value for both Dutch businesses and for the development in emerging markets. In 2021, NLB will transfer into Invest International, a new private entity that is being established (subject to Parliamentary approval) where NLB and a selection of international programs of Rijksdienst Voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO, the funds involved are DGGF, DTIF, Drive, Oreo and D2B) will be transferred to create a one-stop-shop for Dutch businesses with international activities.
FMO NLB operates as a network organization, playing a key role in the Dutch ecosystem of public and private stakeholders supporting Dutch businesses (from start-ups to large corporates) in their international ambitions. The employees of NLB will transfer to Invest International (once set up), and this function fill will be part of that transfer.
The overall strategy of FMO NL Business consists of the following three pillars:
Investment financing for international operations and/or value chains;
Project development, to support the internationalization of strong Dutch clusters like agri-logistics, water, energy, health, and urban development.
FMO NL Business consists of five teams: i) Export & Investment Solutions, (ii) Project and Partnership Development; (iii) Risk, Portfolio and Fund Management; (iv) Environmental and Social and (v) Business Development. In this position you will report to the Manager Business Development. The department was created mid-2019 in order to take the added value of FMO NL Business to a higher level and deepen the relationship with our stakeholder environment.
We are looking to recruit a Business Development Officer to join our team. The Business Development Officer work includes business-level strategy, decision support to NLB management, special projects and stakeholder relationship management.
You will work on different strategic themes and translate these into concrete action plans, working closely with other departments of FMO and FMO NL Business;
You will liaise with external stakeholders and explore ways of collaboration with a view of establishing Invest International as a network organization;
You will work on different themes in relation to the set-up of Invest International, including for example input for future cooperation agreements with FMO front office departments.
Display at least 5 years work experience in the field of Business Development, Strategy or Consulting;
Proven experience and success in building and unlocking various networks in order to stimulate growth of the business;
Affinity with financial services and an interest in impact investing;
Strong analytical research and problem-solving skills;
Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships and build a network;
Flexible, pragmatic and capable of working on several assignments at the same time;
Self-starting mentality and an eagerness to be part of a new team and business;
Excellent English communication skills both in written and verbal;
Fluency in Dutch both in written and verbal is required.
