    The position of Business Development Manager

    To help accelerate our company’s growth, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to work at the heart of our commercial team. You will be responsible for identifying and expanding new business opportunities in specific markets while deepening relationships with existing clients and partners.

    As you grow with the company, you will develop roadmaps for key markets and contribute to optimizing our commercial organization and processes. This could range anywhere from improving reporting on sales pipelines to developing best practices in account planning. This is a position that will suit a mature and driven sales professional looking to develop new market segments with an innovative product portfolio.

    Upon joining, we will expect you to quickly gain a strong understanding of our (technical) product portfolio and organization. During the selection process, we will zoom in on your personal drive and sales skills.

    Tasks and responsibilities

    Your primary tasks and responsibilities will be to:

    • Own, manage and develop multiple client accounts
    • Expand business volume within existing accounts in a structured manner
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities; including sourcing clients using channels such as LinkedIn, trade shows and networking events
    • Balance the pursuit of potential clients with deepening existing relationships with clients
    • Build and manage a sales pipeline
    • Prepare, send out and negotiate quotations
    • Provide management with accurate forecasting
    • Close deals!


    We believe qualified candidates will be able to ramp up quickly. Progress as a Business Development Manager might look like this:

    After 1 month, you will:

    • Fully understand our product portfolio and organization
    • Have met with existing clients and started building new relationships
    • Have hosted your first product demo’s - solo!

    After 3 months, you will:

    • Have built a solid sales pipeline
    • Have closed your first deals

    After 6 months, you will:

    • Be a true expert in market segments assigned to you
    • Have developed a clear vision on the potential of different market segments
    • Be excited to share your ideas about developing new applications within specific market segments


    • Proven success selling solutions to organisations with complex DMUs in medium to long sales cycles
    • 5+ years of relevant working experience, preferably in a combination of business development and account management positions
    • An exceptional self manager - creating the necessary structure to reach your goals
    • A mature, results-driven and pragmatic professional
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong negotiator
    • Willing to travel regularly
    • BSc+ degree in a relevant field, e.g. Business, Economics, Engineering
    • Fluent in both Dutch and English (mandatory!)
    • Fluency in German is a big plus

    About the selection process

    We use a combination of interviews and a short assessment to assess candidates for this position. The assessment takes place in later stages of the selection process and includes a personality questionnaire and a sales case.

    Please note Semiotic Labs does not relocate candidates from outside the EU. We will only hire people with an EU passport, have eligibility to work in, or are already a highly skilled migrant in the Netherlands. Fluency in Dutch is required for this job.
