Business Data Modeler

For this challenge, we are looking for an ambitious business data modeler who is capable of delivering the required data for our managed-, self-service BI and Advanced Analytics.

As a business data modeler you work closely with various departments within the business, data domains and centralized IT departments. You are the starting point for the creation of data attributes that we need, to deliver value.
As a business data modeler you will translate business needs together with our data analysts; conduct analysis on various data sources; translate the needs into (requirements for) the conceptual/business data model; use centrally provided data management processes; set up definitions and meta data; define requirements for logical and physical data model; provide input (e.g. parts of the code) for data engineers; review the delivery by the data engineers.
The team (s)
You are part of an agile delivery team staffed from business and IT. Together with 8 data analysts and 11 data engineers (IT) you are responsible for delivering data attributes and solutions. One of your responsibilities is coordinating the activities of the data analysts and always looking for ways to optimise the data modelling process.
This starts with development and goes all the way to day to day delivery of high quality data. The responsibility of the data engineers is on the (physical) delivery of the data (e.g. running data pipelines). The team is supported by a Product Owner and a Scrum Master. A central IT teams provides the necessary capabilities to run and develop the platform on Azure.
You represent the business in the delivery and therefore will join Client Analytics, the Centre of Excellence BI & Advanced Analytics for the Corporate Bank.
We need you as a business data modeler to help us grow and mature as a data driven organization that continuously delivers value. You have a proven business and/or marketing acumen and are able to translate business requirements into deliverables and set priorities accordingly. You are naturally curious and eager to learn new technologies and tools. In addition, you are result driven and have an agile approach. We look for people who like to work on the data fundament and provide trust in our data. Besides that you are good at supporting a team of data analysts, helping them to specify and administer their requirements per use case and coordinate their activities.

At our head office in Amsterdam you will be part of Client Analytics with more than thirty data analysts and data scientists. Within the team, we work a lot together on small and large projects to serve our customers as well as possible with smart solutions. It is an open team with a good atmosphere where a lot of emphasis is placed on developing yourself to become even better.
You are up to date with the latest developments in data. The job requires excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail. Able to effectively communicate (in written and spoken English) about your analysis and requirements;
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college in computer science, Data or Business Analytics;
Minimum of two years’ experience in a financial institute or analytical online marketing profession;
Strong analytic skills and affinity with data analytics, (pre)processing, and data handling;
Knowledge of and experience in programming (TSQL, Python, PySpark, ERWIN)
Knowledge of and experience of structured and unstructured data,
Knowledge of and experience with batch, streaming and API
Knowledge of and experience with data management, data governance, DQ, meta data preferably at a financial institute and/or a digital environment
Pro-active attitude and an excellent team player.
Experience with data management and analytics in a cloud environment is a plus. Experience with (Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data warehouse, Azure Datafactory) is a plus
Experience with Marketing Automation, campaign management and/or Self-Service Business Intelligence is a plus (e.g. Selligent, Adobe, SAS) and/or BI tooling (e.g. Power BI, DataBricks, Splunk, Tableau);
