Business Controller Offshore Wind Farm Design
Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other renewable activities such as solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.
Since our offshore Winds farms are expanding, we are looking for a Business Controller to aid us in this challenging development. Current challenges you can expect from us
As Business Controller you are part of the Business Unit (BU) Offshore in the Business Area (BA) Wind. BU Offshore is responsible for developing, constructing and operating Offshore wind farms. The department currently consists of 10 operating windfarms with a total capacity of 1.9GW spread across Europe.
We are currently working on the construction of another wind farm for 0.6GW and are planning to start construction of another 2 farms for a total of almost 1.9GW next 1-2 years. Furthermore we are developing plans for next Offshore wind farms in the countries we are operating in and are investigating entering new countries.
Purpose of your potential role
To assist on this exciting growth, we are now looking for a data/IT savvy Business Controller. Someone who can focus on controlling the spend of our product development within the Wind Farm Design Roadmaps and also support the Park Design and System Design teams.
In this role, working with the department Wind Farm Design (WFD), you will support the Roadmap Directors and Product Managers with all (financial) planning and control activities for their products. The Roadmaps develop technical products and solutions for our asset portfolio. The role also requires supporting the Park Design and System Design teams. Park Design is responsible for taking an optimised approach to our portfolio and System Design team focuses on tracking and modelling our levelized cost of energy. As the business is developing and maturing they now require support in optimizing their financial performance and business analysis.
As part of the Offshore controlling team, you will have colleagues in Amsterdam (NL), Hamburg (GE), Kolding (DK) and London (UK). More intense cooperation is required between the colleagues that focus on the implementation of products.
As a Business Controller you will be the finance business partner for WFD Roadmaps, Park Design & System Design Teams providing timely insight into progress and financial performance of the products and the departments. Your drive to use your recently built up skills to help products deliver on their milestones and financial targets is key. Applying your interest and competence in presenting data in digital format is crucial in this role.
The following main tasks are in the responsibility of you:
Be the finance business partner for the WFD Roadmaps, Park Design & System Design teams
Prepare, provide, analyse and communicate monthly reporting for relevant stakeholders (Roadmap Directors, Product Managers & Department Heads) including data processing and management reports
Provide finance/commercial support (and challenge) to the Roadmaps with timely analysis of their product performance, identifying trends/improvements and recommending actions to management;
Prepare the 5 year Business Plan and quarterly forecasts for Wind Farm Design
Support the financial controlling department with relevant business insight / rationale in local country statutory audits
Further develop our digital dashboards used for follow up of our projects
Ad hoc participation in project and strategic improvement initiatives
Your Essential Qualifications
For this position we are seeking an individual with the ability to work on a wide range of products and is able to overview budgets and help deliver on their milestones. Someone who is able to handle a challenge and is flexible in distributing the workload. Also, you bring the following qualifications:
A university (master/bachelor) degree in a relevant field (i.e. controlling, economics, accounting or finance)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a FP&A / Business Partnering / Business Control role and the ability to act on analysis, rather than stay on an accounting / financial control level
Experience in handling different stakeholders, e.g. through involvement in voluntary board memberships (e.g. treasurer in foundation), or the ability to work on different management/team levels
Strongly developed MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
You are a data thinker and IT savvy, that is interested in big datasets and new technologies in reporting
You bring the following key competencies:
Excellent English communication skills both verbally and in writing
You are a strong team player, with the ability to influence over a wide network of co-worker relationships and work in multicultural settings
Ability to work independently with a hands-on and pragmatic mind set and a strong analytical skillset.
Open and active, as well as strong business acumen
