As a Back End Developer in Trip Experience, you’ll be at the heart of driving the connected trip customer experience by owning an ecosystem of APIs that form the de-facto standard of how trip context is built & shared in Booking.com. Building the foundations for the future, this role requires close collaboration with product and other stakeholders, strong technical skills in building & scaling out services that will be used by businesses to deliver the connected trip experience.
In practice, this includes:
How reservations are connected together into trips, how those trips are named and displayed to customers
"My Trips" area, where all of customer's trips are displayed and managed
Standardized UI components for connected trips work flows
The entire Trip Service ecosystem: the backend services standing behind these features - and powering other teams throughout the company
Our systems serve hundreds of thousands of customers per day and are on track to handle more than 1 billion trips in total. Scalability and resiliency are highly valued here and cannot be overlooked. We have both internal and external demanding customers.
Develop high-quality distributed system software
Contribute to the team's architectural migration to microservices
Contribute to the reliability of the components owned by the team
Use software engineering best practices to provide a high standard of quality for all the team deliverables
Implement Unit and Integration tests to follow the Push-on-green approach
Improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of several systems
Work with other teams to promote innovations
3+ years industry experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
1+ years of experience contributing to the system architecture and design
Computer Science and development fundamentals. Including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Experience in one modern programming language - e.g. Java or Python
Familiarity with agile best practices for the full software development life cycle. Including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field (or equal industry experience)
