Shell is hiring several Project Managers with different knowledge and experience levels in the IT Infrastructure organization who will be responsible for implementation of multiple small to medium-sized projects in the Connectivity space.
You will be part of a local team of project managers collaborating with our internal IT delivery groups, IT suppliers and business colleagues across the globe. This group sits in the IT Service Organization of the Shell group and operates from four IT hub locations. The focus of our team is to enable business value for our customers by delivering Connectivity infrastructure changes in a projectized manner. Our scope ranges from delivering small to high complex projects and programs within the technology domains (W)LAN, WAN, Voice, Collaboration, Internet access and Firewall operations for the Shell group.
What’s the role?
As a Project Manager, you will plan, control, and execute a project or set of related projects to meet identified business needs and deliver business value, through acquiring and utilizing the necessary resources and skills. You will be involved in delivering small and medium-sized Connectivity deployment projects with low to moderate risk and complexity. Also, you will be accountable for all aspects of successful on budget and on time project delivery of the projects assigned to you.
In this role, your skills will be utilized within Project Management, Risk Management, Benefits Management and Change Implementation Planning and Management. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with the Connectivity Portfolio team (internal customer) and a range of stakeholders including Shell business managers, service providers and onshore & offshore suppliers. Your team as well as your scope is Global and remote in nature.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Plans, executes, monitors, controls, and closes all aspects of the project lifecycle.
Rigorously manages scope through a structured change management process to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters with focus on delivering the business benefits;
Creates and validates financial forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of resources and expenditures;
Proactively analyses risks and variances against plan to assess trends threatening agreed scope, time, cost, and quality commitments. Identify signs that a project may be at risk and escalate quickly and appropriately;
Ensures appropriate stakeholder change and communication plans and engagements are developed and executed;
Partners with business stakeholders to define success metrics and criteria and to identify, measure, and track planned vs. achieved benefits;
Applies project management and IT control/assurance methodologies, standards and processes including architecture, information risk management, and transition to support.
Creates a motivated high-performing team through team building, information sharing, workload management, and appropriate recognition. Develop the skills of team members through coaching and delegation;
Establishes and maintains appropriate and effective Governance structures and procedures to obtain resources, drive decisions, resolve issues, and deliver project objectives.
What we need from you?
We’re keen to hear from IT professionals who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent work experience
Maintains knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
Has a track record of successful delivery of small to medium sized infrastructure projects in a global environment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Agile project management;
Preferably with professional project management certifications (PMP or Prince2 Practitioner);
Proficient in stakeholder management, communications and presentation skills
Possesses domain experience in one or more of the below specialisms
Cisco based WAN networks (MPLS, SDWAN, Routing protocols changes)
Circuit delivery with worldwide telco suppliers including the complexities of Industrial environments such as refineries)
Large Wireless LAN deployments and migrations between different Wireless technologies
Multilayer switching and structured cabling set-ups
