Associate General Counsel Commercial (EMEA)

As an Associate General Counsel Commercial, you will play a key role within the IDEXX Legal & Compliance Team’s Commercial Group, leading a four-person EMEA team, engaging in global legal practice groups, and providing core, front-line legal support for IDEXX’s EMEA business. You will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel & Global Chief Commercial Counsel.

The Legal Commercial Group partners with all IDEXX lines of business and customer-facing organizations, providing strategic, business-minded legal solutions for customer, supplier, and distributor relationships, advertising, marketing and other critical commercial matters. Working closely with colleagues in Corporate, IP, Compliance, Litigation/Employment, and Operations, the Legal Commercial Group provides seamless legal support for commercial issues globally. With a significant focus on IDEXX’s Companion Animal Group (CAG) Commercial and Corporate Accounts teams, geographic priorities include Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.

In this Role

The Associate General Counsel works closely with business partners throughout EMEA to provide practical solutions to legal issues across a broad range of commercial matters. The focus is on complex commercial transactions with customers and other commercial counterparties and requires adroitness and versatility in dealing with related IP, licensing, sales, competition/antitrust, advertising/marketing, privacy, import-export, corporate and other compliance and operational issues. More generally, the role involves regular interaction with EMEA and global business and functional leadership in a complex business environment incorporating R&D, manufacturing, services, direct sales, distribution, purchasing, and marketing across all IDEXX lines of business (Companion Animal; Livestock, Poultry, & Dairy; Water; and OPTI). Additional responsibilities include coordination and integration of specialty legal support from the Legal Team’s Centers of Excellence, addressing regulatory issues (principally environmental and product registration/licensing), engaging in litigation strategy, providing legal support in compliance matters, and overseeing outside counsel.
