Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships - Cross-Functional Service Providers
Position overview
The Associate Director, Strategic Partnership - Cross-Functional Service Providers position reports into the Strategic Partnerships organization within Janssen Global Development (GD). This position will be responsible for managing key GD supplier partnership relationships between Janssen clinical functions, Janssen teams and select outside suppliers.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the individual in this role include having:
- a comprehensive understanding of the Janssen portfolio and the corresponding functional areas’ and teams’ supplier service needs. Some of the specific functional areas supported by this role include data management, statistics, clinical programming and medical writing.
- ownership for evolving fit for purpose governances for the partnerships inclusive of appropriate goals, objectives and key performance metrics to monitor the partnership’s performance and improve the partnerships’ delivery.
- a current awareness of the Janssen portfolio, the suppliers’ capabilities and the delivery expectations of the partnerships.
- the ability to work closely with the Janssen functional leaders to ensure that supplier capabilities and innovations are known and where appropriate, incorporated into Janssen GD strategic decision making.
- the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to multiple levels of leadership within the partnering organizations and will be called upon to act as a leader and mediator to assist in foreseeing and resolving partnership issues.
- the ability to partner closely with the Janssen R&D procurement and the quality organization to ensure appropriate supplier oversight and will be responsible for understanding, enhancing, and communicating fundamental Janssen/supplier processes within the Janssen and supplier organizations.
- Support relationship in supplier issue resolution, as well as the creation of mitigation plans to address systemic issues.
- Collect and report on supplier metrics. Provide interpretation of supplier metrics and propose actionable process improvements or other changes.
- Take a leadership role in collecting and developing best practices in alliance management/managing supplier relationships.
Qualifications
- BS/BA required. Advanced degree a plus.
- 5-10 years of experience in clinical operations, regulatory, data management, data management, supplier management or related areas with a solid understanding of clinical drug development.
- Demonstrated relationship-building interpersonal skills
- Ability to be innovative and adapt effectively to change and business challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills.
