As the Associate Merchant EMEA for Consumer Merchandising you will be assisting the Merchandisers to establish the ideal product offer for the full marketplace and the perfect assortment for the NikeDirect business. As a downstream associate merchant, an emphasis is placed on building consumer right assortments for Nike.com and stores through data driven decision making, as well as tracking in season performance and fueling Nike Membership Are you curious to explore how we can better serve the Nike members thru product?
If this is you, you will need to be a true team-player that is passionate about serving the needs of the consumer and the business thru intense collaboration. We are looking for someone with a servant approach and a detailed understanding of our core consumer. Besides that, you’ll have to have a proven bias for action and a ‘can-do’ mentality, as these are identified as crucial traits to be successful in this position. As an Associate Merchant, you’ll also need a well-developed ‘eye for product’. Our ideal candidate also loves process and structure. What you will work on
The Consumer Merchandising team is ultimately responsible for delivering the best possible product offer for the consumer in EMEA. We do this by influencing line-planning and driving the seasonal product adoption for our Geography in the upstream processes. As part of the team, you will drive the process of the full EMEA line adoption for Nike’s own channels of distribution, as well as our partners. Another important responsibility is feeding key information and data to our global Product Merchandising counterparts to ensure the needs of the EMEA consumer are fully understood and met through the products that are developed and created. This means that the Consumer Merchants need to create and nurture close relationships with the Global partners, in order to be successful in influencing the product line.
In our efforts to know and serve our consumers better, we lead with our members in the NikeDirect channels across EMEA with amazing product assortments. The priority of your work therefore will be to build and land a compelling member-led seasonal assortment framework that will serve all consumers within EMEA. Besides assortment planning, this part of the job also covers weekly trade responsibilities as we optimize our in-season business.
The EMEA Consumer Merchandising team is also on point to build a clear vision and understanding of our consumer mindsets plus our membership strategy and how this relates to product needs. This work should result in a detailed EMEA product offer with strong focus on innovation, flow, price architecture, margin, seasonality and productivity whilst leading the health of our long-term franchises.
Who you will work with
You will partner closely with the wider Consumer Merchants that responsible for the upstream abd downstream parts of our business and member needs. Other obvious partners are Planning, Go-to-Market Merchandising, Store Merchandising, Marketplace Merchandising as well as the GEL team (local product creation). Beyond these, you will also connect with Marketing, Digital Merchandising and Visual Presentation.
Qualifications – Internal/External
WHAT YOU BRING
At least 2 years total experience in (retail) merchandising and/or product creation and/or a directly consumer-facing environment
A curious and servant mindset
Passionate about digital and consumer experience: aware of the latest digital trends and acts as an advocate
A high level of passion for product and consumer, as well as a good understanding of retail and merchandising acumen
Product aesthetic acumen; experience translating observations of trends, color, materials, and fashion into compelling product and assortment recommendations
Strong team player and ability to work with peers and cross functional partners
Ability to deliver results against tight and complex timelines with competing priorities
Strong business orientation, analytical mindset and retail math
