API Domain Expert
The API Domain Expert works with development teams and management to ensure that new apllications or changes on the field of APIs are implemented correctly. This makes the role of an API Domain Expert complex; on the one hand helping the team with his/her expertise, and on the other hand maintaining the standards that need to be followed, which can be a complicating and even a limiting factor for the same team.
The API Domain Expert develops critical knowledge on the API skill areas, and also monitors future developments to continually be up to date with his/her knowledge. The Domain Expert does not only work for specific IT domains or business Grids, but has a scope that covers all departments and Business lines within ABN AMRO. He/she, has an outside-in view to translating developments from the market into bank-specific issues.
Organization and Grid/Block support
You are responsible for promoting and application of standards, while supporting IT development teams for the API area. You will also advice employees on the possibilities and new developments in the field of integration technologies and methodologies. The management's will also have wishes in this regard, so you will analyze their wishes and give them advice. You advice the organization on the design of processes and will create, together with other CoEs the right eco-system around the development teams, so that they can perform optimally.
Knowledge development and innovation
You master all sub-areas within this discipline, and perform as a point of contact for existing technologies and methodologies and will be the first point of contact concerning new technologies and methodologies, including their application. You follow developments and trends in the field of integration, gathers knowledge about this and reports this to the rest of the CoE.
Communication and education
You setup and maintains a knowledge management environment. You will proactively stimulate knowledge transfer within the bank concerning APIs. You know how to assess which knowledge is lacking in the target groups. To transfer knowledge, you give presentations, workshops, and training courses for employees, both inside and outside of the bank.
You make proposals for the professionalization of the organization around current, and new, technologies and methodologies. You present yourself as the expert of the API area, and coach development team members in further development of their competencies around APIs.
You are responsible for stakeholder management, determines who the stakeholders are, establishes their attitude towards the technologies and methodologies to be applied. You convince the stakeholders and ensures that they can propagate the applied technologies and methodologies in the organization. You will also initiates and maintain communities (Triangles) within the API field with sufficient coverage from within the organization.
Quality Assurance on standards and guidelines is important. You are mandated and responsible for the propagation and control of policies regarding the standards to be applied.
Consultancy skills and persuasiveness,
Knowledge of REST architecture and HTTP RFCs,
Knowledge of Domain Driven Design, information modelling, business analysis, banking taxonomies, Resource Modelling in Financial services company,
In Depth knowledge of API artifacts and service interface specifications (WSDL, YAML, XML, UML etc),
Experience in formulating API guidelines, standards and best practices,
Knowledge of security patterns for APIs eg. OAuth 2.0, JWT etc.,
Knowledge of API Gateway and other Integration concepts eg. Apigee, ESB,
Experience in writing and reviewing API specifications,
Working and collaborating across multiple teams.
