The Analytical Chemist is performing both routine and non-routine chemical analyses in the handling of incoming analytical requests by selecting and applying the appropriate approach and gather informational support, provide technical advice and communicate regularly to internal and external customers.
The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
Develop proper product and process knowledge on company product portfolio.
Formulate and complete analytical method development / modification of analytical test methods under minimum supervision.
Processing and evaluating of (regularly complex) experimental data.
Responsibility for quality of data produced and meeting agreed deadlines.
Organize technical data in support of own and (internal) customer demands.
Regular input on results by comparing outcomes of previous investigations, or results quoted in literature.
(Participation in the preparation and) generation of internal reports.
Use of specialized analytical equipment and ability to troubleshoot;
Ability to provide information for selecting the approach and/or comparison with (experimental) data, according to own insights and/or sources broadly suggested by supervisor or colleagues.
Routinely purchase standard materials and/or chemicals and contributes to minor changes / improvements to installations or equipment (purchase order input).
Monitors the labs to ensure regulations and safety are enforced.
Contributes to value creation in the working environment through in-depth knowledge of own activities and through basic understanding of its relevance.
In addition, other duties as assigned to safely perform.
Minimal 3-10 years related experience preferred.
Knowledge and technical understanding of analytical chemistry
Knowledge of organic / polymer chemistry and / or laboratory automation, process technology or related is a preference
Understanding of underlying experimental concepts.
Ability to formulate the experimental program in detail.
During the course of the investigation be able to modify and discusses potential new (experimental) approaches with direct supervisor.
Ability to conduct routine and ad-hoc presentations.
Coach/mentor lower level technicians.
Advanced knowledge with relevant health and safety policies with regard to experiments and chemical use (HAZCOM).
Education, Certifications & Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in (Organic) / Analytical Chemistry (HLO) required
