You are responsible for
Investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential technologies, materials, processes and products
Planning and executing laboratory research to prove feasibility of concepts
Maintaining extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, as well as contributing to scientific literature and industry conferences
Participating in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications
Consults and interacts with external as well as internal subject matter experts
Coordinating interdepartmental activities and research efforts
You are a part of
Philips EPD Solutions, a recently acquired venture with ambitious plans for growth, developing a disruptive technology, which will improve the efficiency and efficacy of life-saving cardiac ablation procedures treating among others atrial fibrillation. EPD’s technology has the potential to address the key unmet need of real-time therapy assessment, which is one of the more significant limitations of the current standard of care. We aim to help to improve outcomes for millions of people and help maintain the rapidly rising cost of managing the disease. Having obtained CE mark and 510k approval in 2018, we are preparing for a commercial product launch in Europe, US and other territories and are seeking regulatory approvals around the world.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
PhD degree in Bio-engineering/Biomedical Engineering/Computational Biology
Sound understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology including mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmia
Experience with computational and pre-clinical models of cardiac arrhythmia and heart failure
Experience with cardiac imaging, cardiac mapping, signal processing and visualization
Demonstrated ability to organize complex projects and work independently to achieve results
Strong and advanced knowledge of MATLAB/Python and statistical software (e.g. R)
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
