The position of the Accounting Analyst will focus on accounting for Sonos EMEA entities. This includes maintenance of GL accounts, preparation and analysis of month-end BS and P&L, annual statutory reporting, and ownership of regional financial compliance requirements such as VAT. This position will also be expected to participate in global or regional projects (e.g. ERP implementation, accounting process improvements, etc). The person in this role is expected to possess the experience, knowledge, and energy to successfully fulfill a wide variety of General Ledger tasks which may evolve or change throughout the employee’s tenure at Sonos. The nature of this role will require this person to not only work closely with the wider Accounting team, but also cross functionally across Sonos and with various third parties in order fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. The responsibilities of the EMEA GL Accounting team is summarized below. It is expected that these responsibilities are shared amongst the EMEA GL Accounting team and this position will work closely with Accounting management to align and execute on individual priorities and responsibilities.
What You'll Do
Own specific GL close activities for multiple areas/companies in accordance with the monthly close calendar.
Enter/post accounting journals, reconcile accounts/ ledgers and analyze balance sheet and income statement variances for missed or incorrect postings.
Present monthly, quarterly and annual results to Accounting leadership, providing commentary on flux analysis
Prepare month-end tasks and balance sheet account reconciliations (using Blackline as tool)
Execute and adhere to SOX controls
Actively participate and bring value to cross functional meetings intended to improve or automate accounting and control processes.
Drive monthly accrual process by working closely with cross functional teams (i.e. Marketing, Logistics, Operations among others)
Record fixed asset additions, retirement and impairments. Maintain fixed asset subledgers, record depreciation and reconcile with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
Prepare data for local VAT returns and Intrastat reporting as well as statistical filings. Work closely with third parties and the AP team to ensure timely payment of VAT tax payments and filings.
Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies and contribute with your expertise to various projects and ad hoc analyses.
Work closely with third parties to prepare statutory reports for all EMEA entities.
Prepare and deliver audit requests (including the Group audit, statutory audits and other ad-hoc audits)
Review work of less experienced members of the EMEA Accounting team.
Work collaboratively with the IT/ Systems team to resolve ERP system errors or issues.
Compile and analyze data. Prepare a variety of reports for internal audit and external reporting.
Develop, document, and maintain standard operating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company policy, SOX, and US GAAP
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Economics
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2-5 years of related experience in an international company, including experience with accounting systems.
Experienced with full General Ledger and US GAAP accounting and familiar with major European countries taxes.
Strong VAT knowledge in an international environment.
Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills in Dutch and English. French and/or German is a plus.
Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data.
Proficiency in Excel and Gsuite products.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience with working in a US public company environment and with SOX requirements is a plus.
Experience with Great Plains or SAP S/4 HANA or a similar financial system is a strong plus.
Consumer Electronics/Technology industry background preferred.
