    Introduction to Verive

    Verive is a new brand operating in the foodservice sector. Our mission is to future-proof our customer’s business. We offer a range of food packaging products alongside sustainability advice in the form of free online content and paid consultancy services.
    Verive is a brand that belongs to the Bunzl group. Bunzl is a multinational B2B distributor in business goods, present in over 30 countries. Verive has 2 business channels, the main channel being B2B, selling via Bunzl operating companies across Europe. The second channel is a smaller, upcoming channel, selling online to smaller B2B customers via an online store [].
    In recent years there has been a rise in consumer pressure on food packaging, in addition to changes in legislation across the European Union. This has left many of our customers confused by what the best and legal alternatives are and how to implement them in their day to day business.
    The packaging and tableware products we offer carry strong sustainability credentials. They come with strong commitments, certifications and transparency in the supply chain. In essence we offer good value products with values behind them.
    Our main goal for 2022 is to expand our product range and we are looking for your help us make that happen. Are you an experienced purchaser with an understanding of the foodservice sector? Do you have experience working with international suppliers, particularly based in Asia? Do you want to be part of an international, dynamic, fast-paced team that are working to change the packaging sector and cut greenwashing for good?
    If so, then this role is for you.

    More about the role:

    This is a full-time role, reporting to the Manager of Verive. You will work as part of a small team on a day-to-day basis, particularly closely with Verive’s Product Development Management. You will also need to communicate and collaborate with a large group of international stakeholders within the wider Bunzl business.

    Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

    Sourcing new products:

    • Work closely with Verive’s product development manager to define the
    • specifications for the range of products and manage the launch timeline of
    • new products
    • Prepare tenders according to these specifications and our product
    • commitments
    • Work with purchasing departments across the business to assess suppliers
    • Negotiate with suppliers on commercial agreements, delivery schedules and
    • exclusivity agreements
    • Work with inventory management to ensure stock levels are forecast
    • effectively
    • Conduct competitor research on products and pricing

    Auditing and quality control processes:

    • Follow supplier audit process to ensure all products meet Verive
    • commitments and are suitable for the European market
    • Liaise with our Shanghai office to conduct audits of new suppliers, and review
    • audits of current suppliers
    • Manage product certificates and declarations
    • Ensuring they carry the necessary certificates to align with our commitments
    • Ensuring they carry the necessary declarations for cross-European legislation,at national and international level

    Product management:

    • Work with Verive Product Development Manager to manage product data and
    • descriptions centrally including maintaining a Masterfile of product data
    • Alongside Verive’s marketing coordinator, regularly conduct market research
    • for positioning on the sales price of new and current products
    • Management and application of product data for Verive webshop, working
    • closely with the Verive marketing coordinator to ensure all prices, product
    • specs and descriptions are correct and up to date

    Managing stakeholders:

    • Analyse purchasing figures across operating companies to assess success
    • and growth of Verive range
    • Manage relationship with suppliers and local buyers
    • Conduct and manage a monthly meeting of internal stakeholders alongside
    • the Verive Product Development Manager, a group of around 20 people

    For this role we are looking for someone with the following:
    • Fluent in English
    • Other languages aren’t necessary but are a bonus
    • Based in Amsterdam area, with mobility to travel easily when required
    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in purchasing or category
    • management
    • Experience in the food service sector and working with food packaging
    • products is preferred
    • An interest in sustainability
    • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • Experience managing relationships with various stakeholders
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills
    • Commercial awareness
