    User Researcher- Accessibility

    Collaboration is a big part of being in the team. As a horizontal team, Accessibility collaborates broadly with internal stakeholders as a part of the overarching program. Also, we work very closely with external vendors for recruiting research participants, accessibility consulting, and implementation of best practices in research, design, and development.

    About the job

    As a researcher, you work closely with your team to gather insights and define the understanding of Booking customers. You partner with your team to understand our users- and how we can improve their experiences. Your work on data and insights inspires cross-functional partners on current product improvements and can inform new products. You contribute to the culture of the research team by participating in efforts and initiatives that move toward well-informed, objective, data-oriented decision-making across

    You are an empathetic collaborator within the research craft community. You are an experienced communicator and will work closely with your cross-functional partners in design and product.

    You bring solid experience in research methods across several phases of the product life-cycle. You have excellent knowledge of experimental design and one or more primary research methods (ex. surveys, diary studies and interviews) as well as secondary & expert methods (such as literature reviews, cognitive walkthroughs and desk research). You are comfortable pursuing autonomous and independent activities, along with working with Senior Researchers to develop and grow.

    As a Researcher you will:

    • Plan and conduct independent research to collect and analyse customer behavior through a variety of qualitative and/or quantitative methods.
    • Collaborate with other functions to understand and incorporate technical and business requirements into research.
    • Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics in collaboration with senior Researchers, Designers, Analysts and Product Managers.
    • Support a user-centred design approach by collaborating closely with UX and product stakeholders and others in the business.
    • Be the users' advocate, ensuring their needs are central to design and development decisions.
    • Take guidance from senior researchers within the business to improve on research quality, and other craft improvements.
    • Test out new ways of gathering consumer insights through new research tools or mixing methods.

    Experience (essential):

    • 1+ years experience focused on accessibility related research topic
    • 3+ years' UX research delivery in a consultancy, agency or in-house setting.
    • Degree or higher degree in psychology, behavioural sciences, HCI, economics or similar (more experience can substitute for this).
    • Knowledge of how to use a variety of UX research methods (qualitative and quantitative), with a strong awareness of their merits and weaknesses.
    • Experience using a variety of commercial UX Research or VOC software tools.
    • Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill the output of complex and disparate datasets
    • Knowledge of user centered design principles and best practices.

    Experience (desirable):

    • Prior experience working directly with users with diverse needs
    • General familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
    • Awareness of experimentation principles in product technology.
    • E-commerce or travel industry exposure.
