Two Lecturer Positions of Advanced Master in International Development

    • Employment: 0.5 FTE
    • Gross monthly salary: € 2,836 - € 4,474
    • Faculty of Social Sciences
    • Required background: PhD
    • Application deadline: 19 January 2022

A world that is challenged on all its boundaries needs people that contribute. People with the drive to know and the ability to act. Will you join our team and help take our education programmes to the next level? Then you have a part to play as Advanced Master in International Development (AMID) academic staff.

AMID is growing fast. The AMID team is looking for two new academic staff members for our Young Professional Programme, our Masterclasses series and our new programme 'SDGs in Higher Education'. AMID's programmes are blended and thus take place both online and face-to-face. As an academic staff member at AMID, you work in an international environment of enthusiastic professionals and academics sharing their challenges and best practices. You make sure the different AMID programmes are of high quality and contribute to the development of new education programmes. Furthermore, you suggest improvements based on teaching evaluations. In consultation with the programme director, you adapt these educational components based on the existing structure, content and didactics.

As an AMID academic staff member you get:
    • The opportunity to use your expertise and creativity in a learning environment.
    • Skilled and passionate colleagues who just like you are enthusiastic about blended education.
    • The opportunity to co-develop new educational content and learn and grow as part of a professional team.

    • You hold or will soon complete a PhD in a field linked to the Sustainable Development Goals and/or international cooperation.
    • You have knowledge of the field of international cooperation.
    • You have extensive experience with traditional and online teaching, supervision, assessing, and developing educational programmes.
    • You are flexible in your approach to teaching and learning in a dynamic international blended education environment. You have the courage to try, fail, ask, learn and succeed. You are able to think outside the box and do not necessarily follow the beaten track.
    • You are aware of the latest international professional developments in education and training. You are internationally oriented and willing to teach international groups.
    • You are a team player, eager to learn, and willing to roll up your sleeves.
    • You are technically skilled (easily learn new applications and systems) and you are good at online communication.
    • You have a university teaching qualification (UTQ) or are willing to obtain such a certificate.
    • You are willing to work outside standard working hours if required, for example during two-day seminars on location or when hosting evening sessions.
    • You have an excellent command of written and spoken English and a very good command of Dutch (C1 level), or are willing to learn Dutch within two years.

We offer social science professionals the space to continue to develop themselves by connecting practice and science. In this way, we as a university contribute to the continuous improvement of care, education and society.

AMID helps organisations and professionals play their part in realising the Sustainable Development Goals. Our educational programmes are built on the idea that solutions for sustainable development require collective action across a wide range of sectors and actors. We want to get the best out of science, others and ourselves. Why? Because this is what the world around us desperately needs. Leading research and education make an indispensable contribution to a healthy, free world with equal opportunities for all. This is what unites the more than 24,000 students and 5,600 employees at Radboud University. And this requires even more talent, collaboration and lifelong learning. You have a part to play!

    We offer

    • Employment for 0.5 FTE.
    • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of €2,836 and a maximum of €4,474 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 10).
    • You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
    • It concerns a temporary contract for an initial period of 1 year or 1.5 year, depending on your background. Upon a positive performance evaluation at the end of this period, the contract may be converted into a permanent one.
    • You will be able to use our Dual Career and Family Care Services. Our Dual Career and Family Care Officer can assist you with family-related support, help your partner or spouse prepare for the local labour market, provide customized support in their search for employment and help your family settle in Nijmegen.
    • Working for us means getting extra days off. In case of full-time employment, you can choose between 29 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the legally allotted 20.
    Additional employment conditions
Work and science require good employment practices. This is reflected in Radboud University's primary and secondary employment conditions. You can make arrangements for the best possible work-life balance with flexible working hours, various leave arrangements and working from home. You are also able to compose part of your employment conditions yourself, for example, exchange income for extra leave days and receive a reimbursement for your sports subscription.
