    VICE is looking for a fast, reliable and meticulous Dutch Transcreator to join an international translation/transcreation team. Our Transcreation Hub team has a central editorial function to translate texts from English into local languages. As part of this localisation process, you’ll be responsible for delivering flawless translations/transcreations across a variety of different content formats: articles, video subtitles, metadata, transcripts and more.

    We’re looking for someone that that is able to convey the creative spark and humour of the source text in the target language, while also knowing when to stay as close to the original as possible. You’ll be able to use your knowledge of the source language and its culture to localise the text in a way that feels natural. You have a deep understanding of the VICE brand and are very familiar with its tone of voice and style.

    Candidates with the ability to transcreate in both directions (EN>NL, NL>EN) will have a preference in the selection process.

    This role reports to the Transcreation Operations Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Deliver flawless translations/transcretions into Dutch across a variety of different content formats: articles, video subtitles, metadata, transcripts and more.

    • Work against daily translation/transcreation targets and deadlines to ensure regularity of output.

    • Adhere to and ensure consistency in the tone and style across texts.

    • Use your knowledge of the source language to localise the text in a natural way.

    • Work with the Transcreation Operations Manager to ensure the timely delivery of translated texts.

    • Liaise with local language Editorial leads on tone of voice and style.

    Qualifications

    You have these:

    • Fluent Dutch speaker and writer

    • +2 years experience in translating creative texts

    • A deep understanding of English syntax and grammar quirks

    • Excellent time management and organisational skills

    • Ability to prioritise work under pressure and work to deadlines.

    • A strong understanding of the VICE brand and its tone of voice and style.

    • Knowledge of additional languages are a bonus.
