    Tax Manager

    Our client

    Hoogwegt Group is the world’s largest independent provider of Dairy Ingredients
    & Starches, with annual sales of €3 billion and comprising 13 operating companies across
    the world, with offices on every continent.


    The company is in the midst of transforming from a regional and decentralized structure to
    a more global and centralized operating model based on international business units. This
    includes the transition to a global ERP platform, shared services and a few regional hubs for
    the finance processes, as well as a centralised tax function. The Tax Manager falls reports to the Finance Director Group Financial Control and is a newly created position in order to have a centralised, professional group tax function. In this role you shall be dealing with VAT, Corporate Income Tax and Transfer Pricing.

    As Tax Manager you will be responsible for all tax affairs of Hoogwegt’s business operations globally, and will
    provide general tax support and advice across the business operations. As this is a new role,
    the initial focus will be in setting up tax structures, for instance to optimise Corporate
    Income Tax and ensure a new and up to date Transfer Pricing process.

    Main accountabilities:

    • Oversee Hoogwegt’s tax policies and objectives, including the identification and evaluation of tax risks Analyse current tax processes and systems, design, develop and implement global tax policies and processes across the global business
    • Ensure implementation of the corporate transfer pricing policy / intercompany recharge process Together with local tax consultants review and assemble final tax returns and prepare final tax returns and prepare requests for extensions if needed
    • Manage the VAT calendar and ensure timely submission and payments of VAT
    • Proactively review and coordinate potential impacts of any local tax changes
    • Coordinate tax audits (tax authorities, local accounting teams, etc.)
    • Take ownership of tax compliance
    • Play an active role in global projects

    The candidate

    The role of Tax Manager is best suited to someone with a solid base of experience who
    knows what a best in practice tax function looks like and who gets energy from setting up
    processes. With Hoogwegt being at the onset of an extensive transformation, the
    combination of proven experience with excellent communication and stakeholder
    management skills are pivotal to the success of this role. There will be support from external
    tax advisors for selected topics.
    To be successful in this role you should initiate, take ownership and possess a high level of
    accountability. You think in solutions, be able to grasp processes and be concise and

    Furthermore you have:

    A Master’s degree in Tax Law, Fiscal Economics, Tax Management or equivalent
    7+ years of relevant experience gained in at an accounting firm or within industry in
    the field of international tax
    The ability to quickly analyse data, draw conclusions and make recommendations
    Good overall understanding of complex situations as well as hands-on capabilities
    when needed
    Experience in managing processes through a sustained period of change
    A proactive nature with strong communication who can build relationships and is
    able to deal adequately with resistance
