    Sustainable Manufacturing Program Manager

To address sustainable industrialization and manufacturing challenges, particularly in the Textile, Apparel, and Footwear sector, IDH will implement a Better Jobs Acceleration project. This project will work to deliver an industrial park assessment framework, to guide the sustainable development of the sector in Kenya. To guide and manage the implementation of this work, IDH is looking for a Sustainable Manufacturing Program Manager – Kenya
    The role
    The Sustainable Manufacturing Program Manager (PM) is responsible for providing overall leadership and management of the sustainable manufacturing program at IDH in Kenya, and its partnership with public and private partners in the region in the manufacturing/apparel sector.
    The year 2022 will be dedicated to developing the IDH roadmap for sustainable manufacturing in Kenya. The PM is expected to drive the development the roadmap including relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including private sector companies, government officials, donors and international organizations, to enable joint projects and activities.
    The PM is responsible for effectively delivering high quality services to the participating organizations per the agreed objectives. Next to this the PM will ensure private and public-sector support. In the longer-term fundraising will also be part of the role.
    The IDH team in Kenya and the Netherlands will support the PM. Learning and sharing opportunities with IDH teams in Ethiopia, Vietnam and India are also part of this support team.
    Key Responsibilities

    • IDH representation: Represent IDH among all relevant stakeholders in the setup of IDH Kenya roadmap with the mission to present an effective, neutral, credible, and financially viable organization
    • Strategy and planning: Work closely with key stakeholders to develop the strategic goals and objectives of new partnerships on sustainable manufacturing development. Take a leadership role to convene the key stakeholders, organize meetings, set agenda, circulate minutes, and ensure follow up.
    • Partnerships and stakeholder engagement: Engage with new potential partners who have a role to play in the development of (apparel) industry in the country, including relevant government ministries and agencies, sector associations, trade unions, companies, NGOs, donors, researchers, and others.
    • Representation and relationship building: Represent IDH in national and international events. Cultivate a strong relationship with key stakeholders
    • Program Development and Management: Manage mapping and scoping assignments to feed into program development. Engage in program development and manage subsequent program implementation.

    What you bring

    • Degree level (MSc or Bs with additional experience), ideally in relevant disciplines like development economics, industrial development, business management, social sciences.
    • At least 8-10 years’ experience in the scope of work of IDH and the manufacturing sector.
    • Authority to convene both private sector and government most senior leadership.
    • Neutrality to the extent that there is no factual or perceived conflict of interest with key stakeholder’s interests.
    • Demonstrated success of effectively leading change and organizational growth through strategic planning, delivering of results and financial management.
    • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills in English expected, additional local languages a plus.
    • Good knowledge of the structure and way of working of the Kenyan government and other sector players.
    • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office.
