Our Research & Development makes an important contribution to improving the sustainability of animal production, starting by Nutreco and its customers. Our commitment to Research & Development is fulfilled through our global research centers dedicated to Swine, Poultry, Ruminants and Ingredients.
The Research Scientist Beef is part of the broader research team and focuses in developing tools, products and concepts for the global Animal Nutrition business of Nutreco, specifically for the global beef industry. You initiate and manage R&D projects and transfer the acquired knowledge to our businesses, carry out literature studies and conduct scientific nutritional and physiological studies at our own state-of-the-art research facilities, while maintaining and initiating contacts with universities/institutes and coaching our junior researchers and international students.
What are your key responsibilities?
Support and contribute to our beef science strategy, identifying business relevant biological targets to unlock value in the production system by means of nutritional and physiological research.
Contribute to maintain a balanced beef research portfolio aligning business and scientific opportunities. Proactively explore for innovative opportunities in beef nutrition.
Practice experimental research at the highest scientific peer-review proof standards and under strict QA compliance. Continuously improve experimental methods and expand our experimental capability.
Run research aspects of innovation projects in close cooperation with project managers and global and local business counterparts.
Expand further and foster our academic network on beef nutrition research in alignment with our beef science strategy.
Communicate technical and scientific content internally and externally by presenting for diverse audience including colleagues, customers, farmers and academics. Present at trainings, seminars and scientific conferences. Write technical professional articles and peer review papers as result of our experimentation and innovation projects.

What you bring
A PhD or equivalent experience in beef nutrition and physiology;
Proven track record in successfully managing research projects;
Strong experimental designs, statistical analysis and scientific writing skills;
Working knowledge of animal experimentation legislation and working knowledge of ISO 9001 and GCP quality systems;
Fluency in English language and knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish would be highly valued.
