    About the Position

    We're looking for an experienced Quality & Laboratory professional- to bring innovative products to the market and to make Life Delicious at Kraft Heinz. The position is based at the International R&D center in Nijmegen and sits in the International Growth team. Within this role you’ll be working in a hard-working team- alongside peers always trying to reach the next level and will report into the International Process & Technology Director.

    In your role you will be leading the R&D laboratory team- owning Quality in the Pilot Plant- validating the Innovation Factory products and supporting the delivery of new products/technologies to market. The job holder will work in a multi-functional environment and will effectively collaborate across functions.

    The position will combine 2 main responsibilities: Management of the Laboratories and the Accountability of Pilot Plant Food Safety Assurance.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead the laboratory team. Be the knowledge base of the team and coach- train- lead & inspire the team by example.
    • Have a continuous improvement mentality and create opportunities to improve the teamwork.
    • Ensure Laboratories follow internal and external standards through Good Laboratory Practice. Provide and ensure the analytical planning and support for the Categories of Kraft Heinz International Innovation and renovation.
    • Maintain an innovative lab and develop the analytical capabilities: effective maintenance- new methodologies- up to date equipment- high service levels- training- and hands-on technical support.
    • Sustain and advise on scientific programs through analytical expertise for: Food related research- Nutritional claims- and Shelf-life Protocols.
    • Control the laboratory equipment- CAPEX- maintenance and consumables budget
    • Research Shelf-life modelling on Product and Packaging projects.
    • Partner within Kraft Heinz colleagues on Analytical capabilities- Global & International trainings- and protocols.

    Pilot Plant Food Safety Assurance:

    • Promoting and Maintaining a Safe- Hygienic Working Environment to comply with HACCP.
    • Development- implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System and the assurance that all products processed- packaged- stored- and distributed are produced in compliance with all Regulatory- Customer and Kraft Heinz requirements.
    • Be accountable for identifying non-conformities and the release of all product leaving the facility.
    • Strategic development and implementation of improvement plans to reduce risk of quality incidents at site.
    • Determining- negotiating- and agreeing on in-house quality procedures such as: Health & Safety- HACCP- Hygiene standards. Together with the FSQ (Food Safety & Quality) representatives to ensure all Kraft Heinz quality standards are maintained.
    • Define and maintain documentation of internal audits and quality assurance activities.


    • Master Degree in Food Safety & Quality/Food Science &Technology (or equivalent in related field such as Biology- Chemistry- Engineering).
    • Upwards of 5 years experience as QA Manager in a food company and experience managing a laboratory
    • Functional understanding of Food Science including: Foundational science- Ingredient functionality- Formulation- Product-process interaction- Nutrition/regulatory considerations.
    • Functional understanding of Food Safety & Quality including: Food safety- Microbiology requirements- Hygienic Design- Thermal validation- Cleaning validation- CIP optimization- HACCP.
    • Functional understanding of Food Chemistry including: Analytical applications in food- Analytical testing methods- Regulatory landscape- Ecosystem and partnerships in laboratory and food technology.
    • Language Knowledge: Fluent in English- other languages are a plus!
