    Program Director Operations - 1GW Systems (all genders)

    Grid Field Operations is executing Field Operations, Maintenance and (Baseload) Projects. We ensure the integrity and safety of our assets entrusted to us, while also ensuring their maximum availability. We make sure that the grids of TenneT is reliable in Germany and the Netherlands.

    Your contribution to TenneT

    Our business unit Grid Field Operations Offshore (GFO-O) operates and maintains offshore grid connection systems in the Dutch and German North Sea. The department Operations 1GW-Systems is the custodian of all Offshore grid connection systems and interconnectors, which have been handed over into GFO-O custody and care. The department is accountable for the safe & reliable operation, availability, technical quality and budgets of offshore platforms, DC & AC cable infrastructure and land based converter stations as well as operational readiness for new assets.
    The department ensures and improves asset quality/performance, operational execution performance and operational/organizational readiness for new assets.

    As Program Director Operations – 1GW Systems you:


    • are a member of the GFO-O Leadership Team, actively contributing to and co-owning the unit strategy development - reporting to the (Associate) Director Grid Field Operations Offshore
    • will be leading a team of 4 Managers (Heads) and approximately 300 department members, especially motivation, inspiring, coaching and development of people
    • actively contribute to establishing a top class safety culture and an environment in which it is possible for everyone to go home safe every day
    • are accountable for our strategy implementation in time and quality, in close collaboration with the Project and Maintenance Engineering department. The strategy focus for the next years is establishing and gaining stability to our core business processes as well as obtaining must-have efficiency gains, based on and facilitated by an exceptional team cohesion – people make it happen!
    • are monitoring and improving our operational execution performance, based on operational performance transparency, an operational performance management system, an embedded best practices sharing, an solid failure culture and a proactive/learning community
    • are monitoring and improving our asset performance, based on asset performance transparency, asset performance comparisons, asset (system/equipment) standardisations, improvements & reductions, and based on a solid asset risk management system
    • are ensuring organizational readiness preparedness and operational readiness for new assets to be handed over to Operations (GFO-O) by Large Projects Offshore, based on standards defined by our Project & Maintenance Engineering department
    • have the ultimate accountability for asset quality & integrity, availability and operational budgets
    • have all Operator Obligations (Betreiberpflichten) according to German & Dutch regulations for all operations activities and asset integrity of all assets. This includes ensuring a legal compliant organisation and break down of Operator Obligations

    Your Profile and background

    • have a master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or comparable
    • have advanced courses or profound experiences in technical management, project management and/or business administration
    • have several years of experience in leading and managing a department or team in organisations with a diversity of stakeholders, complex business cases or asset infrastructures and staff in different locations
    • have experience in sectors like Energy and Technology and preferably with Offshore Projects and/or Field Operations & Maintenance
    • preferably have knowledge about German and/or Dutch energy regulation and European renewables market, especially offshore wind industry
    • are a team player contribution to an exceptional team cohesion
    • are an empathetic leader, highly interested to understand your own needs and needs of your team & partners
    • are able to balance leadership and management for the best of your community
    • are a strategic thinker with hands-on mentality, courage, determination and result orientation
    • have a strong willingness to learn and change
    • are dynamic, enthusiastic, intrinsically motivated and you take responsibility and ownership
    • are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, as well as preferred in one further language, either Dutch or German
