    (Arnhem, The Netherlands (or remote with occasional travel to headquarters in Arnhem)


    We are looking for a full-time experienced healthcare privacy professional to join our global privacy and data protection team as Privacy Officer, Europe. This position provides strategic advice and day-to-day support to business partners and stakeholders in support of product and service development, and leads efforts regarding compliance accountability across Europe. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the data protection programme within the European organisation, in addition to being the subject matter expert on all aspects of European privacy laws and compliance—including GDPR, e-privacy and other national legislation. The role will report to the Director, Global Privacy with a dotted line to the Compliance Officer for Europe.


    Your Activities:

    Implement and maintain a GDPR compliance programme, in coordination with the Director, Global Privacy, Chief Compliance Officer, European management team and other relevant functions, such as HR, IT and finance.

    Act as a central point of contact, and collaborate with and provide advice to internal business partners on the review of programmes and initiatives across HR, sales, marketing and operations—to ensure departmental and business alignment and adherence to privacy policies, practices and investigations.

    Lead European Data Protection Steering Committee meetings regularly.

    Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures consistent with the data protection policy, legal requirements, and operational risk management objectives.

    Maintain data inventory and record of processing activities.

    Provide advice and instruction on conducting data protection impact assessments (DPIA).

    Ensure queries from data subjects are addressed within legal timeframes.

    Provide support in the negotiation of data protection agreements.

    Provide ongoing training and awareness to promote compliance and to mitigate operational risks.

    Work closely with the Information Security Officer to help manage monitoring, risk and mitigation.

    Monitor organisational practices to identify new processes or material changes to existing processes, and ensure the implementation of Privacy by Design principles.

    Offer consultation as part of the organisation’s data privacy incident and breach management programme;

    Track new compliance requirements, expectations, and best practices.

    Your Profile:

    University law degree from any European/European Union jurisdiction or specialist certification in the field of data protection (e.g. CIPP/E) is a definite plus

    A minimum of 7 years relevant qualified working experience as a specialist in the field of data protection, with at least 2 years of substantial in-house working experience

    Knowledgeable and experienced with applying risk assessment tools

    Excellent understanding and working knowledge of GDPR, data protection laws, supervisory authority guidance and regulations

    Passionate interest in privacy, technology and the security of personal data

    Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; additional languages, such as German, French or Spanish, are a valuable asset

    Proactive and self-motivated; able to work both independently and as part of a team

    Organisational sensitivity and excellent presentation skills, paired with the ability to liaise with people internationally, through spoken and written channels and at all levels

    Accessible, result-oriented, organised and decisive

    Resilient, strong personality, able to self-manage and responsible

    Flexible, analytical, convincing; pragmatic, organised and solution-oriented
