    Principal Research Associate, Vector Design

    Genmab is focused on the creation and development of innovative and differentiated antibody products, with the aim of improving the lives of cancer patients.

    Within the Cell Engineering and Sciences department at Genmab, our Vector Design team in Utrecht is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Principal Research Associate to support the team. You will be responsible for the experiments performed for generation and development of vectors for our stable recombinant cell line platform and the antigen expressing cell lines used for assays. Connect with other expertise groups and take initiative to fulfill the requirements on cell line development for product development and manufacturing. Moreover, as an expert in molecular biological techniques, you implement new technologies and contribute to driving the development strategy for new therapeutic antibodies

    Your role at Genmab

    In this entirely new position, you will create and integrate new equipment and new processes in the current Vector Design team. To ensure that these processes fit into the workflows of our teams, you work close to other departments, to create new functionalities that are the most suitable. You contribute to drive new processes to support the CMC team in Copenhagen that is responsible for manufacturing. This is crucial for the development of new therapeutic antibodies and technologies

    The Vector Design team in which you will work is responsible for all molecular sciences work during the development of antibodies that are selected to become therapeutics. This group supports the Cell Line Development team, the Cell Bank Manufacturing team and the CMC department. In this role you will be responsible for the integration of new processes and run standard development processes. Ensuring that they work seamlessly and create new functionality to suit the cell engineering and Sciences department for our business needs, but also work closely together with our CMC department in Copenhagen. You will contribute to implement and drive new technologies and processes. Furthermore, this is what you will be responsible for:

    • Supervise the Molecular Biology lab and design, organize and perform experiments to improve antigen expression and antibody production

    • Help building capabilities to design, prepare and test expression vectors to speed up the production process

    • Monitor our codon usage and signal peptides in CHO-based projects in Cell Line Development

    • Communicate with the CMC team on molecular topics

    • As an expert in molecular techniques, you work alongside the Cell Line Development team and the Cell Bank Manufacturing team, supporting research associates to provide the tools for Genmab’s development of recombinant antigen expressing cell banks and stable protein producing CHO cell lines

    • Document results in our electronic notebook system and documents related to regulations

    With your up-to-date practical lab experience with molecular techniques, your knowledge and your vision, you will support the molecular biological expertise within our organization. You follow new scientific developments and have relevant experience and are highly motivated to perform experiments in the field of molecular biology

    For this position you should be a well-organized catalyst and a strong connector, able to liaise with other expertise teams in and outside the department. You have experience in automation and proactively look for ways to increase efficiency and optimize work processes

    You take an active role in your field of expertise and take initiative, enjoy working in a team, and inspire others with your enthusiasm. Moreover, you meet the following professional requirements:

    • A completed Bsc / HLO with a broad knowledge of, and extensive practical experience with, molecular techniques and cell culture

    • Relevant work experience in a biotechnology company

    • Experience with transfections, vector design, and stable CHO cell line platforms for cell line development

    • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to working in a team

    • Flexible and capable of running several projects parallel to each other and adjusting priorities appropriately together with the team

    • Recognize the importance of working according to the agreed research based Quality System, which includes adhering to procedures and detailed documentation of your work

    You are a strong team player and have experience working in collaborative project teams.
