    An exciting and newly created position has been introduced to our Strategic Sourcing team. This is a critical role to advance the Packaging Innovation and Sustainability Strategy, working with internal stakeholders to identify packaging innovation opportunities across our categories. You will contribute to Marley Spoon’s success by effectively developing our packaging solutions to deliver future and best in class performance for the Packaging and Consumables spend.

    Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth. You are part of a team responsible for building a sustainable supply chain for a waste-free world. This is an individual contributor role within the Sourcing Team, reporting to the Head of Strategic Sourcing. This job is located in our Amsterdam and Nieuwegein office.

    Requirements

    • Innovate, create, drive and execute packaging sustainability projects through investigations with partners into new more sustainable packaging materials
    • Monitor packaging inbound and outbound. Perform daily tasks in our ERP systems to secure packaging setup requirements for production.
    • R&D, technical expertise in material types, and recyclability of packaging materials in the EU
    • Engage with our suppliers and logistics service providers as well as universities and start-ups to identify trends and collaboration packaging-related opportunities
    • Support building business cases to drive investment in sustainable packaging design and sourcing
    • Further, enhance our customer unboxing experience and own-range packaging visual appeal
    • Show strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors, technology, and market dynamics.
    • Responsible for running trials to check the packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions
    • Gather and analyze data to identify tactical and strategic methods to improve service level and/or reduce operational costs, waste in the assigned category.
    • Manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement.
    • Engage with cross-functional teams to identify packaging needs and design a leading and fit-for-purpose LCA solution
    • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ensure our product packaging complies with all local environmental regulations and internal requirements.
    • Demonstrate and maintain a deep understanding of packaging machines and their integration of packaging material in the food industry
    • Firefight issues and solve issues that arise keeping every day different


    Experience required:

    • 3+ years of experience in product development, and packaging development with a strong emphasis on food packaging
    • Relevant Bachelor/Master Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology, or Process Engineering with knowledge of packaging.
    • Ambitious, entrepreneurial, and data-driven team player with high integrity, strong knowledge, and interest in market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, supplier continuous improvement programs, and lean Initiatives
    • In-depth knowledge of packaging components, structural design, importation of materials, operational processes, and integration with filling machinery.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and solutions-oriented
    • Background in an analytical, data-driven, or project management role.
    • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
    • Strong experience with MS Office Suite, G-Suite, ERP
    • Understanding manufacturing processes is a big plus
