    As a Data Scientist working on Search & Recommendation topics within our Data Science Digital Team, you have the chance to contribute to important and high- impact features and value propositions of Albert Heijn. When you first come on board you will focus on search on and the AH app as a member of our Data Science Search team. Search is a crucial touchpoint in our online customer journey, and we are moving towards more personalized experience. By focusing on customer relevance, we help customers find what they need and improve their shopping experience. Once you have come on board, there are also opportunities to work on recommenders, including the beloved Mijn Bonus Box, where we use recommenders to offer personalized discounts.

    As a member of the team, you will also become part of the vibrant and large AH Data Science community, working in one of 7 Agile Data Science teams. Your teammates have different backgrounds and nationalities, which we believe is an important asset. We work closely together with the rest of the organization in cross-functional teams covering all the necessary roles. This will enable you to work with engineers and analysts as well as business stakeholders to deliver value for millions of customers every single day.

    As Medior Data Scientist Search & Recommendation at AH Technology, you:

    • Build data solutions in the Search & Recommendation space for the eCommerce domains of Albert Heijn .

    • Solve problems holistically through analysis, modelling and experimentation

    • Code, A/B test and put algorithms into production that serve in real-time our customers on web and app.

    • Convey complex ideas to different audiences in an effective manner

    • Work in multidisciplinary product teams and closely to our business stakeholders

    • Have opportunities to mentor interns/junior colleagues

    This Is What You Bring to the Table

    At AH Technology, you'll be working for one of the world's biggest retailers, and we know you are bursting with the ambition to keep up with us. You supplement this ambition with:

    • A Master’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Econometrics, Computer Science, or other relevant studies. If no relevant study, demonstrably relevant experience and interest

    • Experience as Data Scientist with significant individual contributions to a few data science projects from end-to-end

    • Experience with search and/or recommender systems

    • Preferably experience with learning-to-rank techniques

    • The ability to communicate complex ideas to varied audiences

    • Experience in Python and preferably also Spark

    • Familiar with CI/CD and software engineering best practices
