    The Legal Growth & Innovation Department’s mission is to support all R&I initiatives with the ambition to innovate faster and in increasingly collaborative ways, drive value creation and favour sustainable business growth. We do so by:

    • Sharing best practices, expertise and legal advice to ensure optimal efficiency and efficacy in our R&I activities.
    • Ensuring that intellectual property rights resulting from product development and innovation with third parties are duly valorized, secured and available for use.
    • Promoting disruptive approaches and new mindset to embrace new initiatives of the company around open source projects, open innovation, alimentation revolution and new health, cooperation with Start-up, initiatives around Biodiversity, food and digital.
    • Securing Danone R&I licence to operate guaranteeing we act in conformity with compliance rules and Danone business code of conduct.

    The Legal R&I Counsel interacts with all functions within R&I teams, and reports to the Head of Legal R&I.

    The Legal Growth & Innovation Department’s mission is to support Research and Innovation teams on Legal and Compliance matters in every activity, such as research or development projects (NDAs, service agreements, research collaborations with private and public institutions, joint development agreements, etc.), clinical studies, including preclinical projects; any project involving intellectual property creation or related to intellectual property (licenses, IP assignments, co-ownership agreements, etc.).

    Based in Danone Nutricia Research (Utrecht, The Netherlands), the Legal R&I Counsel may intervene on transversal topics or projects related to any of Danone businesses Essential Dairy and Plant Based, Waters and Specialized Nutrition (Early Life & Advanced Medical Nutrition).

    In this role, your main tasks will be:

    • Ensure the daily support, expertise and legal advice to the R&I teams and Research project teams;
    • Propose legal solutions and the most appropriate legal tools for R&I projects to innovate faster and in increasingly collaborative way and embrace digital tools.
    • Draft, negotiate and validate service, collaboration, development and partnership agreements.
    • Contribute to build the Industrial property strategy of the company (patents, copyright including software and databases, know-how…) for all R&I activities while protecting DANONE’s intellectual rights and confidentiality.
    • Liaise with the business and third parties to ensure compliance with GDPR, in requests linked to sensitive data.
    • Ensure the application of social and environmental fundamental principles as well as the ethical code of business conduct of DANONE which include Compliance rules (Competition, Gifts and hospitalities, Conflicts of interest and GDPR internal policies);
    • Partner with procurement teams on Purchase of goods and services for R&I.
    • Guardian of the Contract Policy
    • Occasionally, provide support to the R&I teams (locally and cross border) in regulatory related projects
    • Actively participate in corporate projects that reflect and embrace the Mission of Danone.
    About you

    To be successful in this role, you bring:

    • Law degree/qualification
    • Deep knowledge about GDPR (must have)
    • Deep experience (and interest) in negotiating, reviewing and drafting agreements (must have)
    • Business acumen
    • Ability to handle multiple projects at once, and to deal with pressure
    • Hands-on quality
    • Fluency in English
