    Legal Counsel

    TomTom is looking for an Employment Law Specialist.

    Location: Amsterdam / activity based (flexible)

    Employment: 32 – 40 hours

    We are looking for the best and brightest minds to join our energetic HR Employee Relations team (based in Amsterdam, Ghent, Lodz, Berlin, Taipei, and Pune) and partner effectively with HR business partners, HR Service Desk and various other teams within the TomTom HR organization (HQ based in Amsterdam). Our aim is to create a personalized and positive employee experience and ensure that every employee is treated fairly and with respect.

    As HR Legal Counsel you will work in a team of two employment law specialists to provide legal, business-oriented support to our HR department to further optimize the TomTom employee experience and HR operational excellence.

    Here's a taste of your challenge:

    • Provide day to day advice on employment matters, such as recruitment, compensation and benefits, performance management and terminations
    • Maintain legal knowledge database including on-brand templates, letters and advisory
    • Assist with organizational changes and redundancies
    • Ensure TomTom conforms with regulations across the globe
    • Providing regular updates and training to HR professionals
    • Create innovative efficiency processes to help the HR department to provide for excellent service
    • Draft, implement and raise ongoing awareness on policies and other HR related processes
    • Participate in projects on the HR roadmap, like performance management, data protection, remuneration schemes
    • Responsible for ongoing discussions and formal consultations with European local works councils.
    • Collaborate with outside counsel to ensure all stakeholders receive pragmatic and meaningful advice, whilst helping control external legal spend
    • Work closely with the legal team in relation with commercial contracting, investigations and awareness projects, all from an employment law perspective.

    What we expect of you:

    • (Dutch) Master’s degree in (employment) law and 3-5 years of relevant experience as (employment) lawyer or inhouse counsel,
    • Experience with drafting and negotiating HR documents, and global implementation of HR related policies and procedures,
    • Experience with providing trainings and presentations,
    • Eagerness to find innovative solutions supporting key business goals and increasing the employee experience, while ensuring HR compliance,
    • Affinity with optimizing processes and project management,
    • Good stakeholder management,
    • Pragmatic and solution driven,
    • Able to pro-actively advise in a fast-paced company operating at global scale,
    • English fluency required; fluency in other languages, such as German and/or French is a plus (or knowledge of the countries local laws - also a plus)
    • Dutch fluency appreciated, but not strictly necessary.
