    About Our Client

    Our client is an international bank that is part of a leading international financial group, we are currently recruiting a Legal Counsel to be based at the European Headquarters in Amsterdam.

    Job Description

    We expect you to take a leading role in the negotiations, review and drafting (with or without external counsel) of standard banking documentation, such as loan agreements, credit facilities, trade finance documentation, security documentation, supporting ISDA documentation and other transaction documentation, advising on the structure of new transactions or amendments relating to and restructuring of existing financial structures, as well as examining transaction documentation for consistency with internal approvals. You will also be representing the Legal function in the relevant international consultative legal meetings, the new product approval process, as well as large, often international and multi-disciplinary, bank projects on various topics. You will, together with the Head Legal and Compliance, manage external legal service providers and strengthen the position in the organisations international network by further tighten the ties with other legal departments within the Group. In addition, we expect you to strengthen our legal policy and template framework and observing and analysing alterations in regulatory regulations or market standards (e.g. LMA documentation).

    Due to the unique position and the short hierarchical lines there are many possibilities to develop extensive knowledge and experience, to manage interesting files and to support projects in an environment where you can have clear added value and grow as an independent acting professional.

    If needed, we ask you to support the corporate housekeeping and to support the corporate governance framework and the regulatory affairs, as well as draft and review (in-house) corporate contracts, NDA's, supplier and other third party contracts (including SLA's) and provide support in respect to any inquiries made by or to group-companies, third parties or regulators.

    The Successful Applicant


    • Master's degree in Dutch Law, with at least 4 years PQE in a law firm or within the banking sector.
    • The candidate has a large experience in drafting and negotiating transaction documentation in English. He/she has the ability to manage transactions independently. Offering a high level of quality is a challenge to the candidate. Knowledge of regulatory legislation and/or interest and FE derivatives is a pro.
    • Strong analytical skills, pro-active, pragmatic and independent worker combined with a (internal) client focus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch. Japanese, German and/or Spanish are a plus.
    • Team player, flexible and punctual.
