As a lead investigator assigned to the Global Investigations Team in EMEA, you will investigate complex matters involving internal and external abuse of Uber’s platform. Not only will you be focussing on acquiring evidence to substantiate the allegations, you will also be required to present the evidence in a manner which can be easily understood by stakeholders, including law enforcement. This role requires a nuanced understanding of how to conduct both internal investigations; as well as external fraud investigations.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead investigations into complex threats against the business globally, providing high quality investigative findings
    • Identify individuals responsible for the abuse, as well as determining how it occurred so as to prevent future instances
    • Apply your experience in criminal investigations to build proven cases that can be referred to law enforcement
    • Conduct targeted investigations on the highest priority matters impacting Uber
    • Conduct multiple investigations at once while efficiently prioritizing your time
    • Produce concise yet thorough case reports for internal and external stakeholders and collaborate across the business to deliver results
    • Review previously closed matters to ensure historic vulnerabilities have been remediated
    • Explain highly technical findings in lay terms to various collaborators, including law enforcement

    What You'll Need

    • 8+ years of professional experience conducting investigations in either a law enforcement agency or in combination with private industry
    • Experience using a variety of investigative tools and techniques including digital evidence review, data analysis and investigative interviewing
    • Ability to interpret large data sets to identify critical evidence
    • Working knowledge of the relevant procedural requirements for conducting internal investigations across the EMEA region
    • Proven ability to conduct proactive and reactive investigations with expertise in fraud and financial crime
    • Excellent social skills and validated competence in investigative interviewing
    • Proven ability to lead a caseload according to established priorities
    • Open to travel internationally if required, potentially with short notice

    Bonus Points

Preferably intermediate knowledge of SQL and Excel. Proficiency in an additional language from the EMEA region will be helpful in this role. Also, we would welcome it if you have knowledge of open source investigative techniques and certified Fraud Examiner (or similar certification).
