Then you might be our new Landscape Finance Program Manager who will support and fast track the work of the IDH Landscape Finance program in Brazil and other parts of Latin America (LatAm)
About Landscape Finance
The vast growing demand for agricultural commodities worldwide creates an increasing pressure to convert natural vegetation into productive land, while climate change and unsustainable agricultural practices negatively affect the amount of land that is suitable for agriculture and forestry. In many places, investments in a transition to sustainable land use, considering both socially equitable and environmental returns along with financial returns, are needed. And while new impact investment funds are being established, we also see a shortage of investable projects as they often require new types of collaborations, and the criteria of the investment funds can be challenging to meet (eg. large ticket sizes, international currencies, advanced ESMS requirements).
The gap in the financial system between motivated investors and innovative project developers needs to be closed – and this is where IDH comes in. IDH Landscape Finance has been focusing its efforts on closing this gap through our Technical Assistance Facilities linked to Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Fund, &Green Fund and AGRI3 Fund, also known as IDH Partner Funds. We invest in the enabling conditions and prepare projects for investment, reduce risk, close knowledge gaps, build capacity, stimulate companies to be gender transformative, and establish dataflows for increasing impact.
Simultaneously, we also support program teams in IDH Landscapes and beyond to develop investable propositions and facilitate knowledge sharing of successful models. In close collaboration with IDH Invest / Farmfit Fund, we support capacity of the IDH global team to identify and co-develop investable projects, and keep track of opportunities and capital mobilized by IDH through TA and investment as a scaler. By doing so, we aim to strengthen the pipeline for investments in IDH’s impact goals.
