The role of Junior Legal Counsel at Fontem Ventures in Amsterdam sits in our Corporate and Legal Affairs team. In your role as Junior Legal Counsel your responsibilities include providing practical, business-oriented high-quality legal advice within a fast changing and highly regulated vaping environment. The role has a strong focus on contracts - negotiating, reviewing and advising on agreements. GDPR is an important part of the role and you will provide backup support on corporate housekeeping. The role holder will also support and ensure compliance for CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) at a European level. In this role you will experience a progressive degree of autonomy; we seeking a candidate who is self-organised and eager to learn!
Negotiating, reviewing and advising e.g. distribution/manufacturing/IT/ development agreements whether internal or external and other legal documents;
Supporting and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to production, labelling and packaging of vapour products (CLP);
Providing general legal advice on risk assessment and mitigation;
Managing and monitoring compliance with industry laws/regulations/standards/good practices and guidelines, providing legal guidance, overseeing global marketing materials;
Providing general legal support e.g. reviews of company policies, legal research, support on specific projects, managing outside counsels;
Providing backup support on corporate housekeeping, data protection and procurement (GDPR).
Skills & experience
Law degree obtained from a European law school;
2+ years of experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal department;
Extensive knowledge of contracting, IT, privacy and/or corporate matters in European jurisdictions;
Ability to work in areas of the law or business that may be unfamiliar and with very limited case laws;
Experience in highly regulated environments would be beneficial;
A broad set of legal skills, including the ability to provide confident advice to all levels of stakeholders and proven ability to work within teams, across multiple disciplines and international cultures;
Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines in a fast changing environment with various internal business partners under time constraints;
Passion for accuracy and attention to detail, analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication and influencing skills;
Good sense of humour;
Fluency in written and verbal English; a working knowledge of a second European language would be beneficial.
